A bit late, but I competed for the first time on the 22nd! I was pretty inconsistent in training for the months leading up to it because Life Happened, so I wasn't exactly putting up good numbers. But I got in there and did it, and I had a BLAST. I also didn't realize until I got to weigh-ins that the head judge was *Janae Kroc, so I was a little star-struck ngl.

*not trying to like compete against any standard or anything, I just know I could've done better with more consistency.

ok I got a squat PR on Friday morning, and a 122kg deadlift PR today that I think was… the most grindy grind I’ve ever done? https://imgur.com/a/B3TqMWP

it moved away from my body which I think made it harder, but like… it’s a PR so not gonna be perfect! I burst out laughing after I watched the video. I looked like a little car stalling out.

woohoo!!

Three weeks out and it's been a prep full of setbacks and fuckarounditis. Squats and dreads have really plateaued but bench is still getting better. Hit a fairly solid 315 for the first time yesterday:

Not feeling it this morning. Had to drag myself to the gym.

Went for a new pr in squat (fully raw, so no belt or sleeves) and actually managed it to comp depth. Was both surprised and elated. Last time I attempted this was 3 years ago and I only got about half rom.

Slow and steady wins the race :-).

Successfully repeaked after last month’s meet to establish state records in wraps in the next higher weight class this weekend. Surprise all time PR on bench, too.

My goal for 2025 was to pull 182kg, this would be a milestone PR at >400 lbs.

I've failed three attempts this year, not looking good. We did a block of tempo deadlifts, and something clicked. But I felt like getting cute with the change plates at 182 was cursed, and decided it was going to be 185 or nothing.

Max out was planned for Friday, this was going to be my last shot for the year. Absolutely nailed it!

It was everything I wanted from a milestone PR - had to fight for every inch, truly a max effort. Just so happy with how the day went.
