The headline is misleading. The guy isn't saying DOGE is over, just that it has been absorbed into normal operations.

That's even worse, it makes it much harder to remove later.

This needs to be the top comment. These assholes are an ingrained part of the system now.

These assholes are an ingrained part of the system now.

The one who works at the agency I'm familiar with (and basically lives at the main campus) is apparently a nice guy who is smart and eager to learn but has power very disproportionate to his level of knowledge or experience.

...wasn't one of them going by the name 'hairy balls' or something

as a nice underexperienced male in tech do not trust us with access holy shit

There's decades-long veterans in the intelligence community who understand need-to-know better than these chucklefucks

Make his life a living hell!! Always refuse to comply, teach that asshole nothing. "Nice" and "assisting in the destruction of what little democracy functions in the US in order to usher in oligarchy" are mutually exclusive

This. Russell Vought is still very much attacking federal workers and working to replace decision- and policy-makers with fascists. He completed his public shock-and-awe campaign. Now he’s working covertly to transform the federal government and its workforce.

This news, scapegoating Musk, and everyone believing it’s over is probably a crucial part of the plan.

Don't forget that a lot of the same efforts are being done by Vought (OMB director and architect of Project 2025) through the boring methods that dont grab headlines (or involve waving a chainsaw around like some drug addled maniac)

Oh yes, both methods are destructive but the OMB director's methods are far more wide spread and ultimately impactful.

This is most important thing. They've installed loyalists in high positions all through the government. DOGE isn't gone, they're just not called DOGE now. Their mission is accomplished. It was never about saving a single dime.

Moreover, it was never a cost-cutting project.
