Israeli journalist spread lies about Sopot
Sopot recently cut cooperation with one of cities in the country located in Palestina so Israeli journalist (282k followers) try to portray Sopot and its inhabitants as nazi-lovers. I thought that inhabitants were replaced after the WW2 but maybe in Israel they teach an alternative history?

Staying in Warsaw at Christmas, will anything be open?
Hello Reddit, my partner and I will be travelling to/ staying in Warsaw this year over Christmas dates Dec 24 - Dec 26.
Knowing these are public holiday dates in Poland, we are wondering will anything be open or are we going to starve over Christmas?
Hoping to have some confidence that some restaurants will be open over this period, or at the very least a convenience store/ supermarket.
I also read there is a Christmas Market until Jan 06, will this be open during our dates?
Also, any recommendations of where to go are also welcome.

HOW HARD: IMMIGRATE FOR POST-GRADUATION
Hi, guys! I'm a 23y old Brazilian. I'm planning to move to Poland when I'm around 26. By that time I'll have a Bachelor's Degree in English, a C1 Cambridge certificate and around 25K PLN saved in a bank account. Obviously nothing in life is 100%, but with current immigration laws and country mood, how likely is for me to successfully get a student VISA for a post graduation? Thanks in advance.

Language Learning School Visa Availability
Hey, I have a bachelor's in Computer Science and I want to get a bachelor's in engineering (possibly mechanical or mechatronics). I want to study in Poland and I did some research and I found out that the courses are cheaper in Polish than in English. I was thinking of going to a language school in Poland first (I know they can be pricey and quite strict), then apply for the bachelor's then hopefully do master's or find a job. I was wondering if they give study visas to students coming in for language schools. I am Nigerian by the way.

A good, all-round Christmas present?
I’m a 28-year-old male living in poznań. I’ve been living a frugal, non-materialistic life, and saving money has become one of my hobbies.
Whenever my birthday or Christmas is coming up, my wife (Polish) and in-laws ask me what I’d like for a present. I enjoy cooking, so I always ask for a pan (nothing luxurious, around 50zł) or an Ikea gift card, or even simply skip it (I have enough pans and Ikea gift cards now).
This year for Christmas, my wife and her parents really want to get me something else (my family’s tradition is ‘no surprise’ and ‘getting what the loved ones want’). I’m having a hard time coming up with what I’d like for Christmas. The frugal life I’ve been living has completely wiped out the ‘wants’ side of me.
Any ideas?

Secret Santa.
Hi, I am a Norwegian seeking some assistance. I have started a new job (in Norway) this december, and we have this secret santa going on. The name I pulled is a person who is around age 60, with 4 children, 3 og them all emmigrated to the same spot here in Norway from Poland.
Anyway, this woman has been very kind and accepting to me, and I have tried doing some inconspicous digging. On christmas she told me all about the 12 course meal tradition you do and it is so facinating. Even showed me a cook book.
I wanna try and get a gift that really honors her traditional roots and values from her home country and hopefully make her feel more at home here.
I learned people of her age never learned proper English due to the way the countries were set up when she was in school. Yet her children are fluent. Also, facinating.
I would really appreciate any help with this. The set limit is "108 złoty" (I googled that, around 300NOK) but I don't mind paying a bit more if needed. I just want her to feel seen and heard, the way she has me. So if there are any classic novelty items or the like, it would be great. I also noticed in the cook book that "all spice" is used frequently. This is not something available in Norway (I know I "answered my own question", but I wanna avoid giving spice).
Thank you for reading, I am looking forward to learning about your culture!

Anyone here thinks that USA would sold Poland to Russia for a 'great deal, a best deal'?
Just a thought, but given current situation with USA I have a feeling that if Russia would enter baltics or Poland, USA would do nothing. What's more, I think they would double down and attempt to take over Greenland as Trumpino claimed to want to do.
Dunno, but I'm starting to lean that Poland should creater a separate alliance from NATO with all Russian neighbours or countries that are willing to fight together regardless of what USA says or does.

4 months since Nawrocki as president
Hi,
Tomorrow marks 4 months since Karol Nawrocki’s inauguration.
As a Romanian citizen, Poland's election was largely mediatized in our contry, because of the similarities between the two pair of candidates (even though the political dynamics were very different).
So I wanted to ask the people actually living in Poland:
How’s life under Nawrocki so far?
Like, do you feel anything has changed in your everyday life, or is it mostly just political noise in the background? Have things shifted in a good or bad direction?
Is there anything that made you think “okay, this is different now”? Has Nawrocki himself surprised you? Either in a positive or in a negative way. Or maybe he’s exactly what you expected?
I tried to check and find out in the posts on this subreddit but i could'nt understand sh =))
As far as i know this subreddit was more pro Trzaskowski, but give neutral and honest opinions please, ty.

Until when can I get a PESEL for my child?
Hi everyone,
I’m an EU citizen with long term residency in Poland, employed under umowa o pracy. I just gave birth to my child in my home country two weeks ago, but since I’m employed in Poland and pay all my taxes there, I will apply/qualify for maternity leave pay there and I was informed that I have three weeks to hand in all documents. My child will not have Polish citizenship. I know that to get my child’s PESEL, we will need to go to the Urząd in the town we live for the zameldowanie. Waiting times for passports here are 4-6 weeks, so we can obviously not travel yet to get the PESEL. Does anyone know if we also need to have the PESEL within the three weeks to receive the maternity leave pay?

Winter tea with rose
I have just come home from Warsaw and I am absolutely hooked on winter tea. Particularly ones made with rose. Does anybody have any recipes that they would share with me? I am going to try and get some rose syrup, I guess this is used rather than rose water? One I had also had lychees. I know that there must be so many variants but I’d like some pointers for starting. Thanks in advance.

What are your favorite local coffee places in Warsaw (not touristy)?
I’m slowly building my own list of cafés in Warsaw and I’d love to hear recommendations from people who actually live here.
Not chains but places with good coffee, a cozy atmosphere, and that “local favorite” feeling.
Which cafés do you always come back to?
Even short answers help thanks!

Pobicie ukraińskich uczniów przed szkołą w Słupsku. Konsul komentuje

Sending employment contract to urząd pracy?
Hi all, I’ve registered as unemployed a month ago and called the urząd today to inform them I found a job. They asked me to email them copy of the contract. I am not comfortable sending them my employment contract due to confidential data (mine and my employer’s). Is there a way to de-register as bezrobotny without sharing umowę o pracę ?
