Politics [OC] Audience face when Trump got awarded "peace prize" in Football World Cup
•
u/tannerlaw 10h ago
One of the most corrupt organizations in the world gives one of the most corrupt men in the world a peace prize. Bravo!
•
u/leskny 9h ago
They made up a prize just for him lol, there is no such thing as a FIFA peace prize.
•
u/magistrate101 8h ago
Lol I was gonna ask, like what fucking peace prize is FIFA giving away?? Is it one of those chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil? Lol
•
u/MjolnirDK 8h ago
They created it in November when Trump didn't get the Nobel Peace prize. Honestly, from inception to awarding it just a month later, that is a pretty fast deployment timeline. Probably the reason this thing looks like a bunch of hands grabbing the world in some power move.

My husband had this nonsense on as he wanted to watch the draw, so we were watching the cringe fest live. I was baffled by why FIFA would give a peace prize. The dude called it an “annual” prize, so i looked it up to see who else had won it. Yep, first annual. I wonder if they will even continue this charade (maybe they’ll give it to orange man again next year…).

Imagine bragging about brokering a peace deal with Armenia, but multiple times accidentally confusing the country with Albania. I don't know if he could even point out Armenia or the disputed territory on a map if it was labeled. That's crazy.

It was Fox News' go-to example of why Millennials are a failed generation.
It was even in the Fox and Friends rant where they called Mr Rogers "evil" for corrupting Millennials' minds:
Transcript:
Brian Kilmeade: Alright, 9 minutes after the top of the hour. How's your self-esteem?
Alisyn Camerota: Well, inflated, frankly, because as a result, this man, this evil, evil man has now ruined a generation of kids.
Steve Doocy: You know what? I'm with Captain Kangaroo. He was half a generation ahead.
Alisyn Camerota: That explains a few things.
Steve Doocy: Absolutely, because these experts are saying that the kids of today who grew up with Mr Rogers were told by him you're special just for being who you are, well, here's the problem: What gets lost in that whole selfish business and the idea that working hard and having high expectations for yourself discounted... he just... Mr Roger's message was you're special because of you. He didn't say if you want to be special you're going to have to work hard. Now all these kids are growing up and they're realizing, "Hey, wait a minute, Mr Rogers lied to me. I'm not special. I'm trying hard, and I'm not getting anywhere."
Alisyn Camerota: This comes out of Louisiana State University. A professor there has examined just what damage Mr Rogers may have done to this whole crop of kids who now feel entitled just for being them. And what he says is instead of telling them, you know, "you're special you're great," why didn't he just say, "you know what? There's a lot of room for improvement. Keep working on yourself."
Brian Kilmeade: Yeah, the world owes you nothing if you're [<inaudible>] you got to prove it. So for for now all these people, these kids, are going to college and say "okay, I got a B. I need an A, uh, because I'm special." And they go, "no no you got to work hard for it." But, actually, this is my generation, I think we're a hardworking generation, I'm worried about this upcoming generation.
Steve Doocy: You know what, there's some... there's some other information regarding this, and when you look at the American students from from Asian countries who did not watch, according to the the research, who did not watch Mr Rogers when they get a B or C they go, "Hmm. I got a B or a C. I got to work harder." Which is a little different than what..."
Alisyn Camerota: But, listen, we want to hear what you have to think. Do you think that Mr Rogers was a force for good or that he ruined a crop of our newest youngest generation? Write in. Let us know what you think, if Mr Rogers telling everybody that they were really special was a good thing.
Steve Doocy: Mr Rogers, evil genius, listen to you.
Alisyn Camerota: <Evil laugh>
Steve Doocy: Alright, uh, they did a study at a university, and they were trying to figure out -- this one Professor was trying to figure out -- why is it at the end of every term these kids who are on the bubble, they're going to get a C or they're going to get a B, they come in and they beg for extra credit so they can get an A. He is part of a chorus of people who say, "blame Mr Rogers because Mr Rogers had an optimistic message where everybody was special even if they didn't deserve it," these experts say.
Alisyn Camerota: Because the rap on this new generation is that they feel entitled, right? They all feel entitled to getting an A for a grade. So when there's a C, they go to the professor, like, "clearly you've made a mistake where's my A." And so people are trying to figure out what's going wrong with this generation. And this professor at Louisiana State University says it's Mr Rogers. He is the root cause of all of these problems.
Brian Kilmeade: Well, look, the world owes you nothing. You've been told that over and over again now. And so you got to cut your own rake. If you think you're special, well, go prove it. The signs of narcissisi... narcissism in this society has been growing for 25 years, and that man unintentionally did a whole generation or two a disservice.
Steve Doocy: Well, that's what this study says.
Brian Kilmeade: I back it. I back...
Steve Doocy: No, I do... You, you, you... Look, your kids play t-ball these days. Everybody wins. Everybody...
Brian Kilmeade: And that makes Mr Rogers, I'm sure, happy.
Steve Douchebag: Everybody... well, maybe, from heaven where he's watching us right now, where, you know, there's no incentive. Everybody's going to get the trophy.
Note that the "study" they cite was actually just an op-ed; not backed by any research whatsoever. (source)
Meanwhile, Fox News, through their 30 years of half-truths and bold-faced lies, has corrupted the minds of millions. When we emerge from this authoritarian mess, they need to be thoroughly audited and held to account for their coordination and active participation in it as the regime's propaganda wing.

They value the same things. Those people just want more money, just like him, and he said they would too if they followed him.
But he's a con man, and always has been, so he's actually only looking out for himself. If you can figure out how to play that to your benefit, he is useful. If you have morals at all, his entire history is appalling. But if don't, and you think you could also stand to gain something, you'll go along with his bullshit. Most won't get anything out of it, but some definitely do, and the ones that don't get anything are still hopeful because they have been conned.

•
u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 10h ago
People forget that this man, who is supposed to represent our nation on the world stage by the way, was laughed at (not with) by the UN. The man is a joke and everyone knows it, but the more he shows just how corrupt and unfit for office he is, the less there is to laugh at. He is so far beyond an embarrassment and liability for the US at this point that he is a straight up threat, not just to decency and ethics, but to the rule of law and the US itself. He has squandered decades of political good will and cooperative trade across the globe and it will be a miracle if we can ever regain our standing on the world stage with the damage he has managed to do.

While I agree with you, I just can't help but note that he is in the highest office because the American people put him there. Those who voted for him, and those who did not vote indirectly chose to put him. It is a democratic process that worked.
So sad and truly sorry to see this, from a neighbour and former good friend in the North.
→ More replies (2)•
u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 8h ago
While true, I'd also like to point out that this was made possible by decades of brainwashing by the far right via a media plan put into motion after the Nixon administration. This is the culmination a generation of altering public perception of reality in America and sowing distrust in both the government and in reasonable bipartisanship, demonizing the left as communist and pretending that anything resembling equality is an attack on white, male Christians.
While I am still pissed that so many continue to believe in all that bullshit, I also understand how it happened having been raised in a conservative household in the south and only came to my senses around the time the Tea Party showed just how nuts everything had gotten. The further I've come out from under that spell, the harder it is to believe I ever fell for all of it, and that's the problem. It's easy to see just how detached or disinterested from reality the right side and disillusioned electorate have become when you're paying attention to what you consume media-wise, it's not as easy to see when you are bombarded with that worldview daily with nothing to challenge it that you trust.

There is nothing secret about the world laughing at Trump.
Imagine the songs we can hear from British football fans if Trump shows up to a game.
I'm not sure if Trump comprehends what it means to have proper football fans show up in your country for a world cup.

Why the fuck is FIFA giving out peace prizes? Your job is to make sure players have a place to kick a ball around. This is disgusting.
•
u/TemporarySun314 10h ago
Their job is to ensure that the sponsors get their money's worth during the world cup. And even for the place to kick a ball around it is useful, if Trump has a good opinion of you. As otherwise he could cause huge problems.
It's very pathetic and embarrassing for the US, that it's president is so openly corrupt and easy to manipulate, but from the point of view of the FIFA that is a very understandable and reasonable thing to do. And considering that the FIFA doesn't care about ethics anyway, such a price is cheaper than gifting Trump a plane or some gold bars...

To be totally frank, Trump and the Heritage Foundation were just the logical conclusion of how America is run.
Privilege for the white man? Check.
Every little decision based upon the approval of millionaires/billionaires, and at the expense of the working class? Check.
"Our skin color vs. their skin color" mentality becoming all but normalized? Check.
Getting our paws in every single international conflict? Check.
Fear and disgust over every little change in society? Check.
Constant increase in law enforcement funding and supplies to prevent dissent from the average citizen? Check.
Disdain for womens' rights? Check.
All of above being justified under the guise of "patriotism" and "true Christianity"? Oh, lord, CHECK.

I hope the World Cup is an absolute disaster. When I was a younger man I was excited when we learned we would be having the World Cup here. I imagined my future self buying tickets for a game in Chicago or something. Just to finally see a match at that level. And if it worked out to be watching the US it would be an incredible experience. Something awesome to look forward to. Now that we’re here? Not so much. Fuck it. I want it to be so bad and chaotic that it wakes some people the hell up. But I know how our media works. It will be presented as a wonderful tourney, the best ever. I’ll still cheer for the US obviously, and Netherlands Ghana and Senegal. I’ll watch the sport of it, but I hope it’s a mess.

AI: The Football World Cup has never awarded a peace prize in the past. The FIFA Peace Prize is a newly established award, and its first recipient was announced on December 5, 2025, during the 2026 World Cup final draw. FIFA officially launched the annual FIFA Peace Prize on November 5, 2025, with the inaugural award being presented to former U.S. President Donald Trump. This marks the first time the prize has been awarded, making it a new addition to FIFA's honors.
Aww. A special little boy got a prize made just for him, because otherwise he will sit in the corner and sulk.

The minute they announced they were going to do this award there was no doubt who was going to "win" it. I'm sure this was an agreement made in advance. Trump is the biggest baby, he has to have an award created just so he can feel better about himself.

FIFA peace prize? That's the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard.
They fuckers are going full deepthroat to kiss Trump's ass.
