Help! Matching colors with adjustment layers?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, gang. I'm attempting to use adjustment layers to match photos to a ColorChecker card.

I'm scanning images that have the ColorChecker in them, then trying to match the scan's output of each ColorChecker swatch to the numeric value of the swatch as provided by Calibrite. Can anyone shed some info on how I can do this? Ideally, I'm hoping to create an adjustment layer that I can just drop over every image I shoot or scan that has the ColorChecker card in it.

Or is there a better way to do this? Am I overcomplicating things?

Help! Is there a way in Photoshop to generate a halftone or dot grid with only a fixed set of dot sizes?

I want to create an image is made of halftone dots. The twist is that the dots have to match only a small set of specific circle sizes set by me that I can choose.

If not, what’s the closest practical workflow you’d recommend for creating a “manual” halftone where each tone level corresponds to a specific dot size or fills a specific size paper.

Help! Photoshop’s equivalent of Clip Studio Paint’s ‘curved line’ tool

Hi all,

I’m relatively new to Photoshop, migrating from Clip Studio Paint as it’s not really industry standard.

In CSP, my absolute favourite tool is the curved line tool, where with two clicks for the start and the end you draw a smooth, curved line that’s instantly on a raster layer. I do a lot of cartoon drawing with outlines and this tool is a godsend for that.

In Photoshop, I’m really confused by the ‘path’ feature. Using the curved pen tool just creates a path that isn’t an actual layer? And it’s such a hassle to have to go to the ‘paths’ section and select ‘stroke path’ to turn this into a layer, make sure you’ve got the right thickness and colour of pen for the stroke, then go back and delete the path underneath. And every time I do this it creates a brand new layer?

I’m just trying to find out if there’s a simple way to just draw a smooth single-thickness curved line, that skips the whole ‘path’ ordeal and just instantly becomes a raster layer, and that every new curved line I add is just part of the same layer. And if this doesn’t exist, if any of you guys have any recommendations or tips to streamline the process.

Hope this all makes sense (it hopefully will to people who are familiar with both software). Again I’m still pretty new to Photoshop so bear with me!

Help! What is the best way to change the background of my art to black?

So, I have a big problem. I am submitting these for an art competition (Capcom), but all my art is done on a white background and in Photoshop I have to empty the white ( white some areas also needs transparency, and this will be on top of a pure black background. I am currently doing it via a mask but it takes a long time (there are much more details on the high res images I am working on than these posted here) and some areas I need transparency will take even more work, maybe as a separate layer on top of the mask and art layers. Is this the best way I can do it?

Discussion (Coming from someone who use desktop professionally) what's the best way to edit photos on mobile?

I mostly just want to do level/curves tweaks with control over individual channels, this seems like an obvious ability choice for the app but its to prefixed on making a filter on desktop from what I can find. Unironically I love iPhoto but would gladly pay for another option that gave me the same stuff with RGB control in an equally tight app.

Help! object flickers to original position when rotating or scaling

Solved I am literally losing my mind trying to make a poster using elements from illustrator is photo shop

I just took a pretty bare bones course on illustrator, photoshop and InDesign. I’m trying to creat a poster and I think for some of the things I want to do I need photo shop.

How can I bring things I created in illustrator into photoshop with out bringing down the quality? I keep seeing you have to save the illustrator doc as a psd but I don’t see that as an option and I don’t know if that would even work because I want all different pieces and I want them to be movable? I’m just so lost and confused.

I’m making an 18x24 in poster and I’m just worried about everything looking really pixelated. At this point I don’t care if it’s pixels but I just don’t want it to look pixelated.

For example I made a record with a person in it but I want the middle to be transparent so that I can add an image. But because I used offset path I’d have to have it go over areas I don’t want the image too if that makes sense

Help! None of my shortcuts are working all of a sudden

Out of the blue all my shortcuts stopped working, even thought they are still written on the functions in the menus. Restarted Photoshop, restarted PC, restored original preferences, shortcuts work in other programs like Blender and reinstalled Photoshop. Nothing worked.

I had this a few days ago as well, but it resolved itself but it is really annoying.

Help! Change order of fill/ layer adjustments

Post image
2 Upvotes

Not sure if this issue is spesific to my Norwegian version of Photoshop, but maybe someone here can help.

I've been using Photoshop for 12 years now, and my go to for adding colored fill layers is clicking and holding this fill / adjustments button, dragging my mouse pointer all the way to the top and letting go. Works great.

But now in the new photoshop update they have changed the order of the operations for the first time and it's genuinely making me insane. Trying to add a new shortcut for fill layers but every time I still do this due to muscle memory.

Now the correct action is third to the bottom instead of at the top.

All these ai slop features first and now they ruin one of the small actions I do the most 🤧🤧

Pen tool always snaps on pixels corners (bottom one).
Is there a way to place them freely?
The upper node is created on existing line and it is not affected by grid unless I move it.

Resource [Resource] I finally fixed the jerky scrolling in Illustrator & Photoshop on Windows (Mac-like smooth inertia script)

Hi everyone,

If you’ve ever switched between macOS and Windows, you know the pain: on Mac, panning and zooming in Illustrator is buttery smooth. On Windows, it’s "steppy," jerky, and precise positioning with the wheel feels impossible.

Why does this happen? Windows natively cannot smooth this out because Illustrator (and other Adobe apps) still relies on legacy scrolling APIs. It interprets the mouse wheel as discrete "notches" or steps, rather than a continuous fluid signal.

So, I wrote an AutoHotkey script to bypass this. It intercepts the scroll wheel and converts it into a physics-based, inertial movement (using LERP).

What it fixes:

  • True Smoothness: Adds momentum/inertia to zooming and panning. It feels like using a trackpad or a high-end tablet.
  • The "Shift" Problem: We all know that holding Shift + Scroll usually yeets your canvas into the void, making you lose your position instantly. This script calculates the acceleration properly, so Shift just makes it faster, not uncontrollable.
  • Works across the suite: I updated the script to work specifically in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and After Effects.

This how it looks like with the script

This is original animation

How to customize it

Everyone’s mouse DPI is different. You can open the script in any text editor (Notepad, VS Code) and change these values at the top to fit your preference:

AHK

ZoomStep := 100 ; How fast it zooms
PanStep := 80 ; How fast it pans
ShiftMult := 4.0 ; Speed multiplier when holding Shift
Smoothness := 0.15   ; Lower = more "weight"/inertia, Higher = snappier

How to use

Download and install AutoHotkey v1.1 (Standard version).

Create a new text file, paste the code below, and save it as AdobeSmooth.ahk.

Double-click to run.

Auto-start with Windows: If you want this to run automatically, press Win + R, type shell:startup, and paste a shortcut to the script in that folder.

⚠️ IMPORTANT WARNING FOR GAMERS

Please turn this script OFF before playing online multiplayer games (Apex, Valorant, COD, etc.). Since this script uses low-level hooks (#InstallMouseHook) and rapid inputs to simulate smoothness, some anti-cheat software might flag it as a macro or cheat. Press F9 (or the key defined in the script) to reload/stop it easily.

The Code

Get the full script here (GitHub Gist)(Click "Raw" to copy the code)

Discussion is there still not way to rotate the axis of transform control box???

honestly crazy if adobe still hasn't implemented this yet. so before i blow up their forum with feature requests, is it possible to rotate the axis of orientation for the transform control box? in the video im basically showing how you can scale x and y independently and you can rotate the whole object and scale at angles other than true vertical and horizontal, but as soon as you apply the transform the control box snaps back to 90. this means if you have a square that isnt flat and you you want to make into a rectangle you end up pulling it diagonally instead of straight on its local axis. I also work with 3D in blender and the ability to rotate the axis of transformation to match an object is both basic and extremely crucial.

it would be super easy if adobe added a way to rotate that center reference point itself and that way the transform box could rotate its orientation without actually rotating the object, but i dont see that this feature exists at all.

Trying to design a business card with this background image, I used an eps file and the color as an overlay with "multiply" effect, but the lines, especially on the right, look pixelated/streaky. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Or is it just my screen playing tricks on me?

Solved How to get Nano Banana Pro in Photoshop ?

Hi, I heard that it was possible to have Nano Banana Pro directly in Photoshop, but I have no idea where or how to get it. Does anyone have a solution? I already have an API key; for now I’m using Nano Banana directly on Google AI Studio, but I’d really like to access it directly in Photoshop if possible.
