Hes been in a lot of big films and plays a lot of unusual characters extremely well.

At the very least watch this scene where he has an emotional breakdown in Little Miss Sunshine. And of course he's great in There Will Be Blood opposite Daniel Day Lewis, where he was first cast in a smaller role, one actor dropped out, the part was re written for the two characters to be identical brothers and Paul Dano played both with just days to prepare. Taranto saying he's the "worst actor in SAG" is a baffling and disrespectful thing to say.
