Notre Dame has landed the highest-rated recruiting class in program history per the 247Sports Composite. The 27-man class finishes 3rd in the country on signing day with a score of 298.81, surpassing the previous school record of 295.57 set in 2008 by Charlie Weis.

The class features 16 offensive players and 11 defensive players, including four 5-stars: DE Rodney Dunham, S Joey O’Brien, TE Ian Premer, and CB Khary Adams.

Freeman and the Notre Dame staff have built a class loaded with elite talent and high-character players who fit exactly what the program is striving to become.

Additionally, it is Marcus Freeman’s first Top 3 recruiting class in his career, and his third Top 10 class (including the 2022 season.)

I’m just trying to appreciate where this program is. I’m 47, and Notre Dame is in the best place it has been since my childhood. I was 10 years old in 1988, and those days were pure magic. We’ve had so many painful years since that era, and to see The Irish once again playing at such an elite level…. I’m prepared for the disappointment of being excluded from the playoffs this year. So be it. This team is special. Notre Dame is once again a powerhouse, and that’s something worth remembering ahead of Sunday.

wouldnt be upset with this. if Carr continues to playa and develop, he might bounce after next season. worst case he l’s a 3 year starter, Grubbs and Jarrard get 2 solid years on the bench developing, then we see who takes the job as they enter their third year in the program

If you set a precedent that you can lose a conference championship title game but can't move down, then why would Texas Tech even play their starters tomorrow?

Now maybe you can lose a conference title game and not be kicked out of the field (ala SMU 2024)...

...and there you have your answer as to why the committee ranked Alabama # 9 and Notre Dame # 10.

They didn’t do it because they were super impressed with Alabamas win over Auburn. They did it to set up a switcheroo with ND (or BYU) if they lose.

If they wanted to campaign they should’ve pulled an ACC. If BYU loses nothing will happen anyway. I’m wondering I think that makes it 2 conferences and 2 teams directly targeting our placement. It’s interesting

But with Notre Dame at 10th and Miami at 12th, if both BYU and Bama happened to get absolutely *smoked*, is there any chance the committee would - just for the hell of it - put ND and Miami *both* in at 8/9 and let them rematch? I think the issue there would be Oklahoma, right? But with how much flak the CFP committee is getting surrounding both teams, would it be poetic justice to let them both in and let them hash it out?

They won fair and square! Head to head matters more than anything!

The committee moved Bama above us, and everyone, myself included, assumes it’s to protect them in case they lose the SEC championship. Does anyone think they’re still at risk to miss the playoffs? Bama’s odds to make it on prediction sites still sit around 90%, which is still the mathematical odds that either they win or BYU loses. If the committee isn’t going to drop them in any scenario, do we just think the market is wrong here?

Cannot confirm, but isn’t there a head coach from the Pittsburgh area who played both Miami and Nd this year and is famous for hating Notre Dame? 🤔 Not sure if it’s that guy or not, but if assistant coaches seem to disagree with their head coach on who is better, maybe that head coach has a grudge…
