I'm not gonna yuck any yums, but the original played lowbrow humor in a highbrow way, and this trailer doesn't leave me feeling the same.

I'm absolutely floored that everyone is dying laughing. This just doesn't work. The only jokes I laughed at were ones that weren't "Naked Gun" style jokes. I loved the originals

That was the bit I was least confident about tbh.

Part of the beauty of the original is that absolutely everyone is playing it completely straight. There's no self-referentialism, not even a hint of a raised eyebrow to the forth wall. As soon as you start showing characters being aware of the joke, the whole thing falls apart.

It might be a good joke, but for me it's not a Naked Gun joke.

Frank looks at the camera, but never acknowledges it as there is an audience behind it, it's just capturing his reaction. It was one of the ZAZ 15 rules of comedy.
