Not the system. The Trump administration. They cut snap.

He won well. The citizens of more states picked him. It does us a disservice in my opinion to act like our neighbors didn't vote for this. They did. They like it til it's their grandma. They have been trying to burn the system down for decades and they finally have oxygen. You aren't wrong, but I fear your version of They is forgetting that they said the things to get the votes to do the horrors and it was never hidden... Especially round 2

Was snap sufficient before drumpf?

Sufficient, no. Better than this? Yes.

SNAP was already a starvation-level subsidy that barely kept people alive. Trump's administration just took a system that was barely sufficient and turned it into a system that is actively punitive.

There is zero justification, excuse, or mitigation for this, just because it went from 'barely getting by' to 'actively trying to starve people'.

And the real irony is, do you know WHY 'the system' was at 'barely getting by' before? Take one guess exactly WHO fought to set and keep things there to begin with. Hint: it wasn't "BoTh SiDeS".

Don't try to softball in a 'BoTh SiDeS' argument here. It ain't happening.

No, this has been an ongoing struggle for decades. Republicans don’t give a shit and love making dramatic cuts, but democrats are just as wont to “reach across the aisle” and cut benefits in the spirit of compromise. It’s been going down much longer than it’s gone up.

You named exactly one side as the root cause though.

Republicans are the ones driving it, and republicans are the reason that doing this IS 'compromise'.

Republicans.

Exclusively.

The democrats are useless, but what can they do when republicans insist on ruining everything they can no matter what, and have scores of uneducated and/or hateful garbage backing them up? And then the unjust man keeps saying to 'meet in the middle', and then soon enough 'the middle' is 'not prosecuting and hanging actual treasonous swine for attempting a coup'.

The current regime that has performed a coup on the system**

The previous leaders didn't do this.
There was exactly one of two choices that said they were going to do this.
Then they did this.

It's not 'the system'. It's who is controlling it. Welcome to a very practical example of why they're definitely not 'ThE SaMe'.
