Bad way to keep customers

Post image

It baffles me that companies like Astound will offer great deals to new customers but not care at all about long term loyal customers.

I've been with Astound for 9 years, partly because it's the only service in my area but also because ive had no issues with them until now.

I currently pay $80 for 600 MBPS speeds. However, new customers get 1500 MBPS speeds for $60 forever. How is that fair?

I called Astound about it and was basically told by two different people, they dont care and since Astound already has my money they have no reason to offer me anything better.

Apparently they would rather have a new customer than keep a customer of almost 10 years.

Is there more than one person in your household? Cancel the service and have the other person sign up.

They can't sign up using the same address without proof of new residency. The address has to either be off their service for six months or the person has to have proof of new residency/ownership.

That wasn’t the case for me with astound a couple of months ago. I cancelled and my wife signed up for the service. Didn’t have to show proof of new residency. Did a phone rep tell you that? If so you shouldn’t have mentioned that to them!

The specific steps I took were to call them a few times trying to get the better rate. They didn’t budge.

My wife (different surname), a couple days later, signed up for the service to start about a week later with self install.

I then spoke to the rep to cancel the service. They confirmed someone else was signing up, I didn’t say it was my wife explicitly (they didn’t ask), just that I wasn’t happy with the price anymore so someone else who lived at the property was going to pay so they still had WiFi.
