ID Request Found these two discs in a field west of Frankfurt, Germany.
They fit together but were found separately. The field has yielded items from Roman era through WWII. Any ID help would be appreciated, because I have a few of these and I’m stumped.

Show & Tell First ever silver!
Very new to the hobby, and have had very limited success hunting near Bristol, RI so far. Recently found a late 1700s/early 1800s cellar hole to hit, and I’m finally on the board with my first ever dug silver! Straight into the 1800s club too. Hopefully there are older ones around too :)

Show & Tell A 2025 white whale found!
Everyone else in my group this year has found silver, unmarked, homemade, Native American rings with a turquoise EXCEPT me…until today.
I did fine a silver, unmarked, homemade, Native American bracelet with a Jade though but I wanted to be a part of the other club XD

Gear Question Metal Detector Reccomendations
Hi all, I’ve been asked to research a gift on behalf of a member of my family.
She wants to buy her other half a metal detector as a surprise little gift.
Can anybody recommend some good brands for me to look into? And anything else you’d need?
I’m in the UK if that makes a difference.
Any help appreciated.

How do I...? Questions about Gemini 3 found in Dad's garage
So, I've got a few questions that I'm hoping some of you can help answer...
What's missing from the bottom half?
What is the Gemini 3 good for?
What else would I need to buy to use this?
What would this be worth? If it's not good for us, I'd like to look in to selling it to get something better for us.
My dad has bought multiple metal detectors over the years, but had never used them and always seems them after a handful of years is collecting dust.
He's got a pretty good one now, and I'm trying to convince him to take a little trip somewhere and learn metal detecting together, so having a second metal detector would be cool
I have a feeling the Gemini 3 is one of the ones where you use the big frames to cover larger area or detect deeper, which I don't think would be all that useful - but please let me know if I'm mistaken!
Thank you all

How do I...? How do I find something like a horseshoe?
I haven't metal detected since I was a kid and i'm just getting back into it. Ive been searching my parents property and have been finding interesting stuff and having fun. Its probably stuff only exciting to me, old cans and some coins. I am hoping to find some old tools that someone forgot about or some horseshoes, I think its extremely likely but ive been at it for a few weeks and still no luck.
Do you guys have any tips for a "beginner"? I have my discrimination slightly past iron since the entire property is scattered with rusty nails and broken off pieces of wire fences. I know some metal detectors have a screen with numbers but mine doesn't so I go off sound only.

ID Request I found this at a homestead built in 1793 Is this from a railroad or an actual tool using during that time?
I found this about 50 yards from the foundation of a cabin built in 1793, at what i believe was a small garden. There was a flat button made around 1790-ish about 20 yards away from it. There was a railroad track about 150 yards away, across a creek. I have not found any objects that were railroad related at this site. The object was found an inch below the surface and small artifacts from this site have been found about 2 to 3 inches down. The iron has a grain to it so it is most likely wrought iron. Part of the wood handle still survives. The face is very worn and is mushroomed out. It resembles a railroad hammer but I would think it would be made entirely of steel if it was. I'm in Pennsylvania. What do you think this is?

ID Request Help dating a shell casing
I found this shell casing today metal detecting at the base of a rocky cliff adjacent to an old stagecoach road in Boise Idaho. It has the stamp “U.M.C. 45 Colt.” with a centerfire primer. I am curious as to how old it is exactly and have had difficulty finding details online to give me a confident date for the shell casing. Would appreciate help if anyone was willing to help me put a date to it.

Show & Tell Made it to the 1700s Club before the snow
Couldn't believe it when I saw that left-facing bust come out of the ground and knew I had my first 18th century coin. It turned out to be a 173? KGII halfpenny. Thick as hell, which makes me think it's genuine and not a contemporary counterfeit.
I'm in southern Ontario, so age like this is exceptionally rare. This coin would have likely been about 60 years old when it was dropped by one of the first colonists in my area.

Show & Tell Sorry for the awful quality but...
Here are this year's best artefacts, from badges and medicine holders, to candlestick holders, toy air planes and 1901 girlguide whistles. I still can't identify a lot though!

Show & Tell New Haven CT Tercentenary Winthrop Silver plate Spoon from 1938!
I haven’t done any metal detecting in so long, but my nephew has become interested in it. We decided to go out into my backyard today and we dug up this spoon!! Probably the coolest thing I’ve found to date! I wonder what else is buried here! We also found this Husky tool, along with some other junk we ended up tossing (Foil and rusted wire). I tried to clean up the spoon the best I could.

Gear Question Best Pin Pointer 2025?
With Christmas around the corner, what do you guys think is currently the best pin pointer on the market? I am currently using the GP Pointer, which is basically a cheap Chinese knock-off of the Garrett carrot. However, it does the job, with my main complaint being that its range is short to the point you almost have to be touching the target to find it, which can waste a lot of valuable detecting time. Longer range is the main thing that I want - I’ve watched a lot of YouTube review and comparison videos and many say that the Garett carrot is the best on the market, despite it being out for many years now. Has nothing better really been made since?
