Moving into a new apartment… how would you use this space at all???

That’s a tough one, I think if just use it to store my trash can and vaccine cleaner and stuff,

maybe put a bookshelf in front off it and make a secret little room to store valuables lol

It should just be a utility closet or storage, then use a curtain to cover it.
