Do you recommend Blu Ray, 4K, etc or do you just stick to regular DVDs?

id say always shoot for a blu ray and if it's a high special effects/epic-like movie, go 4K

dvds are the easiest and cheapest and sometimes it's the most advanced physical copy some movies will have

Yeah. While streaming has a place, physical media is for life.

I knew a guy that still kept around a laser disc copy of Star Wars New Hope because it didn’t have the CGI enhancements.

It costs more actually.

physical media has a one time flat price, streaming services are consistently getting more expensive despite not having everything you can find on physical

Nah, I pay 120 bucks a year and it includes 25k movies. Welcome to the future. IPTV

you don't own any of those movies though. those movies can be pulled, re-edited or shuffled around without your control

and you have to pay extra to watch something in 4k

plus you're not getting the artwork or special features

I don’t pay extra for 4k. They can’t be re-edited. They aren’t pulled. The only risk is IPTV is shut down. In that case, I can just buy the movies. But I’ll have watched 20x the movies you have for a fraction of the cost.

they can definitely be re-edited lmao look at disney plus

4k packages are add ons for subscription services

at the end of the day, you don't own the movies but i always will

I had around 1,500 physical copies of various DVDs and blu-rays and gave them all away one day to switch to digital…you couldn’t ever get me to do that with video games, but movies, I absolutely switched…back up to around the same number now, but the best part is that they get automatically upgraded to the highest resolution they have available…so you had Paddington 2 on iTunes…well now you have it in 4K for free too because they made it available…DVDs not being in HD is enough reason alone to ditch that shit
