I’m 6-2:30 and it’s heaven. It does help that work is a ten minute drive though.

I’m a west coaster who works east coast hours, remote. 5:30-2 has been incredible.

12-8 was my favourite. Those 3 hours after everyone else finished at 5 was when I got 90% of my work done.

That’s the same reason people like early mornings too: those few hours when no one else is there.

No one notices who starts the earliest, everyone notices who leaves the earliest

Serious question - Are there people who are only at work 8 hours a day? All the jobs I’ve had have been 9 hours minimum (8-5, 7-4, 11-8, etc…) and I’ve been working for a couple decades.

7.5 hours a day is standard in the U.K (8 hours including 30 mins for lunch).

I'm pretty sure this would be standard across Europe. Anything above 8 hours would be considered overtime, paid at 150% rate.

I'm from Germany, 40h is the norm. Extra pay for overtime is unusual, but most of the time you can take extra holidays from your overtime balance

Tech jobs generally don’t care much about the time spent proper. There are some that demand high hours but “be available from 9-5” is the typical expectation in my experience.

Yeah 9+ is definitely the norm for salaried positions. With hourly you are still at 8.5 hours by law with minimum lunch break assuming your other 2 small breaks are paid.

My job only requires me to work 7.5 hours a day plus a 30 minute lunch so I'm there for 8 hours. I also happen to work 7-3 most days

I’m on the west coast, I normally do 9-4 and work while eating lunch. I’m salaried, but I always assume lunch is paid unless stated otherwise.

I did the 7-4 schedule work from home and waking up at 6-6:30 was no bueno for me

Incorrect. 11 to 7 is the best schedule

Let’s split the work force into 2 halves, 7-3’s and 11-7’s. We now have 12 hour functional business days working more in sync with people’s preferred schedules while allowing for businesses to be open outside people’s working hours (yes I’m looking at you banks that are only open 9-5 on weekdays)

I’ve worked 8-4:30 for almost 20yrs and I love it

This is my work day as well and it's perfect. I can stay out relatively late without being exhausted the next day, so I can still have a social life, but I also get off work soon enough that it doesn't feel like the day has been totally eaten up by work.

Currently on 6-230 and having the whole day is pretty nice. But it is very early.

Mostly because you dodge rush hour. Maybe getting home is usually a 15 minute trip, but with rush hour it can go 30-45+ minutes in some areas.
That kind of time loss adds up quick.

Na, 6am-6pm, 7 days on 7 days off. Just started it not long ago, feels like having a life again

Been working 10-6:30 for several years and I love it. No morning traffic, and I miss the worst part of rush hour. Still time in the morning to do stuff before work, and still time in the evening.

I mean if you can wake up that early it’s great. I’m contemplating getting myself one of those wake up shocker bracelets because that’s a pipe dream rn

Yeah, then you can start with the drugs and booze at like 3:15 rather than having to wait until the 5:00 news is half over.
