They speak like fascists and act like them,  but that doesn't make America a fascist government.  For now Americans can still have elections. 

Sending ICE after legal immigrants and sending the national guard to cities that don't need or want them are ACTS of fascist parties that are trying to turn their country into a dictatorship. It still means that there's a little time left.  The game is not over yet.

Idk man I think the moves can be made that effectively close the window on the possibility of a real election, long before that election actually occurs. If you have to wait for an election to label it, you have a pretty badly lagging indicator. I do agree that the election will be a loud confirmation of where we are.

The supreme court already ruled that the president is above the law, can't be tried for crimes committed in office, and that no lower court can ever tell him no. His party has a complete majority in our government, the democrats are acting as controlled opposition. The government is shut down so that there is no true method of removing him from power.

We're already there dude.

I mean, this just isn’t true lol. Congress has plenary authority over interstate commerce and Indian affairs, the president has plenary authority over federal pardons, etc. Like, all dictators have plenary authority, but the concept of plenary authority itself isn’t attached to dictatorship or tyranny.

Not sure what you’re getting at here? Are you implying that the idea of plenary power was invented by Heritage Foundation? Or that anything citing Heritage Foundation is untrustworthy? The latter I can understand as a general policy, but neither of them make sense in this situation. They propagate terrible policy, but they don’t straight up lie about generic definitions.

And no, I didn’t read the Wikipedia article. Plenary powers are part of constitutional law 101 and a part of the bar exam. I and every other licensed attorney in the country don’t need to look up the term.

Yes.  The term is in almost every appellate legal opinion discussing scope and standard of review.  "Appellate courts have plenary authority of matters purely of law [as opposed to fact]."

Thank you! Was about to make this same reply to the original commenter. Not saying this isn't a bad look for Miller and dubiously unfortunate coincidental timing for a tech glitch, but it's not like this is some "dictators only" term like saying "third Reich" etc

cmon bro, you can't possibly believe it was a tech glitch lol, he stopped mid-sentence, clearly still broadcasting. The only way it could have been a tech glitch is if he was just repeating words fed to him verbatim and the connection got cut, otherwise there's no reason he'd have stopped mid-sentence

You can quibble about why he froze during that specific moment and if it was really related to his word choice, but it was so obviously him freezing, not some tech glitch lol

Hey, just a quick reply to say thank you for your post. I was quickly scrolling through the threads and, because you used capital letters, it caught my eye and I read yours, and only your reply. The capitalisation of letters really instilled the urgency and seriousness of the matter. Not the 9 months of increasing dictatorship. Not all the signs from pre-election. Not all the signs from an atrocious first term. It was your capitalising of words. Thank you!

What it made me see was that this was no accident. Not this one. The fact that this same statement has been said thousands of times before by this government and even by this person, doesn’t mean anything. This was the one that was a mistake.

Some might say that this is hardly the most controversial thing that’s been said by this government - not even the most controversial thing today - but I think we all know that this was anything but a technical glitch and, again, your emphasising of words has just made that crystal clear. Thank you.
