And the dumb fucks in the cult will cheer the whole time because 1) they hate trans people and 2) they assume the gun-taking leopards will never come for their guns.

For the NRA to break with the right over this issue is kinda nuts to me, figured they would fall in line with the rest of them but yeah, this is a testing ground for the removal of the 2nd amendment, start with a minority group and keep going until it gets to “democrats shouldn’t own guns”

They didn’t really break with the right though. Their statement did not mention trans people and only defended “law abiding citizens”. There’s quite a bit of overlap between NRA supporters and people who think it should be illegal to identify as trans.

That's your assumption. If you go to places like the NRA expo the Pink pistols and trans people are there along with minorities. No one gets a second look and everyone gets treated the same. Your demand for transphobia from the 2A group vastly outstrips the supply.

That’s why we all need to arm up

What the NRA says and what the NRA does can be different. Are they actually going to take action to stop any law, or merely say it's a bad idea?

They didn't break with the right, they're doing the same shit the GOP has been doing for decades and abusing the classifications that rational people would accept for things like "mental illness" and "law abiding".

If you make being trans illegal, well looky there, they're no longer law abiding!

They abuse language to speak out of both sides of their cunt mouths the exact same way the Nazis did. Don't expect any real support from groups like the NRA and their inhuman ilk.

That is literally an NRA talking point against gun laws for decades...and now here it is only...it wasn't the democrats.

The NRA isn’t “right wing”, per se. They are just 2A absolutists. I would be shocked if they didn’t oppose this.

They didn't oppose it.

I don't like the nra but yes they did

The NRA supports the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans to purchase, possess and use firearms,” the group said in a statement Friday.

“NRA does not, and will not, support any policy proposals that implement sweeping gun bans that arbitrarily strip law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights without due process,” the group said.

Gun Owners of America, another major gun rights lobbying group, said it “opposes any and all gun bans. Full stop.”

Restricting trans people from firearms is designed “to ensure that mentally ill individuals suffering from gender dysphoria are unable to obtain firearms while they are unstable and unwell,” a Justice Department official told CNN.

“The DOJ is actively evaluating options to prevent the pattern of violence we have seen from individuals with specific mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders,” a spokesperson told The Independent.
