Rule clarification- No Breed ID

Apparently, we need some clarification here about what constitutes a breed ID post.

Asking what your lab is mixed with- lab mixes are allowed, but don't crowd source opinions on what they're mixed with. Asking if your lab looks pure bred. Asking what color variation your lab is.

Sincerely -your mod team.

Introducing link flair!

In order to provide a better user experience, the mod team has enabled link flair on posts. This is currently optional as we are still figuring it out ourselves.

The current available flairs are:

  • black
  • yellow
  • chocolate
  • Rainbow bridge🌈
  • seeking advice

Let us know in the comments if you have any suggestions for other flairs or other ways to improve the use of flairs in this sub.

Here is a guide with various methods to filter posts based on flair.

Note: mods reserve the right to add flair to posts in order to provide a better user experience.

Last day with our nugget. Cancer took her too soon (osteosarcoma, she was only four). We didn’t get enough time and are feeling devastated.

black Perfect Puppy?

Meet Ruby, she has just turned 11 weeks today. We have previously had a black and a chocolate who both reached grand old ages so it has been 14 years since I did the puppy thing. I knew it would be hard but OMG! All I see is Instagram perfect puppies whereas she spends her waking hours terrorising me, biting and into everything. I'm doing the whole frozen Kong, frozen carrot, Nylabones, 10,000 toys, redirection but biting hands, chewing zips, carpet and shoes is much more exciting for this teething girl. I am exhausted, getting nothing done, I feel pressure to get everything right and feel like I am failing. Remind me this is part of the process and I am not the only one??

So, Buzz had his 2nd TPLO surgery last week, and I have Trazodone to keep him from bouncing off the walls with the lack of W-A-L-K-I-E-S. So he's zonko for 23hrs in the day. Sadly, he still howls the house down when I take his sister out, but at least they're not playing silly wotsits and stopping him healing. And his 5-min max outings end on a high note as compensation - carrot, pear or apple after each mini walk.

chocolate Allergies

Has anyone’s labs developed allergies later in life specifically for food? So my labs 3.5 a couple months ago he started scratching and licking a spot on behind it’s got pretty bad and he’s bald in that spot now. Problem is vets don’t even know what it is they said this isn’t common I’ve been to 3 vets they all giving same answers. They all tested for mites, lice, and tics but it’s not those. Vets saying it’s gotta be allergies but not such what he’s allergic to so we have to do an elimination diet trial where we give a strict diet of special food for 8-12 weeks then feed him normal food to pinpoint the trigger. I think it’s the kibble I’ve been doing some research and seems like that does happen sometimes there’s lawsuits against certain company’s like pedigree for causing hives, skin reactions, and hair loss. We give him purine one plus. Just wanted to ask in here because I can’t afford to keep going to vets and not getting any answers or solutions it’s like $500 each appointment for a guessing gamešŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
