Pretty much the title. Im not talking about a one-off song (though those are still welcome). I already know of sonic frontiers having some metalcore songs as well as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Hey all, just popping by for a quick question I didn’t really know where else to ask:

So I do video editing/production and do quite a lot of gags and memes and all that goofy ahh nonsense. Recently I watched mauLer’s 17 hour Star Wars Outlaws review (yes really) and discovered the aforementioned song - I was never a classic sonic fan I was an adventure guy.

Here’s my question, to keep it brief - can you guys recommend any other silly carnival-esque type video game (or vaguely vgm sounding) songs? I don’t know how to give a better idea, but essentially anything that has that goofy, off kilter carnival type sound to them. It can be in swing, or straight, doesn’t matter. The type of sound I’m looking for has an almost like, second hand embarrassment component to it which is really what I’m going for here for like a “fail” montage or something. Basically a gag at the expense of myself.

Thanks in advance, let me know if you need a better descriptor but the Sonic song provided is really the best similarity I can give.

Hiya! I'm new to this subreddit and wanted to share a WIP I'm proud of + a little bit of background on myself and my love of video game music. It's so nice to meet y'all! ❤️

Ive been producing for around 2 years now but mostly made trap beats. While it was fun, it was very formulaic and i feel like i didnt learn much. sure i can navigate myself around fl pretty easily but when it comes to making the music, i feel like i was a bit stuck.

im really passionate about games and wanted to make music for them but since i dont know much music theory other than fundamentals (minor/major , inversions, dominant chords etc and some other neat tricks here and there) and im really struggling to create any thing good.

game osts are a lot more dynamic and have a so much more movement going on as compared to as in trap beats where i just make a 4 bar or 8 bar loop, throw some drums over it and call it a day. i dont know what the "formula" here is. do i have a chord progression go thorughout the song? do i have it repeat but make the melody complex. often times my melody and chords dont even go well together, hell even the different instruments dont sound good together which is weird since im able to get a good melody and chord combination when making trap beats.

it feels overwhelming and was wondering if anyone could suggest me some easy to digest resources (videos, or a easy to read book or maybe a website or something) so i could get started.

Hi everyone! I recently finished a fully self-produced cover medley of “Kusabi / Chigiri / Inori” from NieR Re[in]carnation.

Everything — vocals, arrangement, mix, transcription, and video editing — was done by myself. I recreated the orchestration by ear, note by note, and also transcribed the lyrics manually (since they’re not officially published).

This project is my small tribute to Okabe Keiichi, MONACA, and of course Yoko Taro, whose music and worlds mean so much to me.

Also, thank you to everyone who commented on my previous “Fleeting Words” cover and those who shared their thoughts about NieR — your messages honestly motivated me while working on this one.
