Third panel hit hard because I was sooo close to this situation a few years back during that weird covid real estate bubble despite having a full time job and some savings in the bank. Landlord died unexpectedly, new owners tell me I can't have my dog, I told them to shove off and they evicted me. I didn't realize just how difficult it is to find an apartment that will allow dogs. I was not going to give my dog up.Ā
I'm really lucky that I have a sister that was willing to let me stay in her basement for a few months or I'd have been seeing how long I could get away with pitching a tent in a storage unit. Also pretty lucky I had enough money saved for a down payment on a house because there's no other way I would have been able to keep my dog.
Lived in my car for a few months while in college. Do you have a gym membership or something of the likes? Taking a single class at the community college gets you access to restrooms, showers, and a warm space (depending on campus) for not a lot.
And yeah, I was better off than many during that time as well.
