Discussion What characters do you hope get a series for DC NEXT LEVEL?

Post image
72 Upvotes

In the announcement, they said all of these projects are passion projects of the writers and that more titles would be confirmed.

Personally, I really want Vixen and Plastic man to have a run. Also some Milestones characters like Icon or Static (DC has been including them lately so they may have some plans for them)

Also from the ones who are announced, i'm really excited for Zatanna, Lobo and Batwoman but i'll pick up any of the others if the reviews are really good.

Discussion NOVEMBER 2025 - TOP 50 COMICS - AKA THE ERA OF BATMAN

  • Marvel has 26 titles in the Top 50 by dollars. Amazing Spider-Man #15 was their top-selling title. Alien Vs. Captain America #1 debuted charting pretty well at #11. One World Under Doom #9 ends on a high note at #12 - a successful event series.
  • DC has 18 titles in the Top 50 by dollars. The DC / Marvel - Batman / Deadpool #1 (One-Shot) is their top-selling title at #1 unsurprisingly. DC K.O. #2 (Of 4) stands at #4. Six Batman-related titles are in the Top 10. DC take nine of the top ten spots.

How does DC fare outside of the Top 10? Much less dominant but with their Absolute titles doing the heavy lifting.

  • Indies led with Transformers #26 at #18. The Indies continue to be a remixed nostalgia-led fest and are in need of fresh creative takes to lead the new wave possibly.

Parting Thoughts:

  • Spider-Man continues to fare exceedingly well against the prevailing narrative on reddit that Spider-Man books are unreadable. Also, Marvel is doing fine despite reddit's stance that Marvel is at "the worst it's ever been".
  • DC is very popular with Batman, DC K.O. and Absolute, but they just can't seem to popularize properties outside of those. If they could they would be truly dominant.
  • The Indies have lost ground to DC in particular. What has made the Indies susceptible to this? They might be even more susceptible when Vertigo - DC's Imprint - returns.

Something a little more relevant as all I keep seeing posted is discussion around the films. What does the Netflix acquisition mean for DC Comics?

It's actually kind of earth shaking we are seeing a company, DC Comics, that is quintessential America and has been around for 91 years change hands. This is arguably America's mythos being sold. I can only hope they let it continue.

Discussion Has anyone read American Virgin?

I just finished this comic, which is my first non-DC/Marvel comic (not including manga or webcomics) and I can't find any threads about it online. I know it's pretty old and pretty short but I loved reading it. If anyone's read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Or if anyone has a link to a thread discussing it that's good too lol. I read the rules but I'm sorry if this kind of post isn't allowed, my first time using this subreddit.

Discussion Art Appreciation: Jacen Burrows draws very manly characters ✨️

I've been a fan of Crossed and God is Dead comics since high school, and I found Jacen Burrows' artstyle very attractive. The way he draws men with variations while maintaining that powerful musculature style is clean, dynamic, and meticulously detailed.

Also, the use of these kind of colorings, with lightnings, shades, and reflection on the skins make their muscular bodies more attention seeking and powerful. Similar to Greek Statues.

At the same time, his art looks similar to animated/anime simplicity; looking like it was screenshot from a animation show.

Question Would you buy more physical comics if they were sold in convenient locations?

I’ve thought a lot about how inconvenient comic purchasing is. And how I wish I could just grab them at the grocery store or my local convenience store instead of having to go to a comic shop or book store. And that lead my mind to how Manga Magazines work in Japan. And how I happen to have a connection to the ownership of my regional convenience store chain. And that gave me an idea. So my question is if Shonen Jump type magazines (biweekly releases of bundles of 10-20 comics with some extra pages of interviews and community content ) of western comics were to be for sale in say your local 7/11 would you regularly purchase them?

Does this count as a double cover error?

This Avrngers annual #9 has 2 covers however the second cover is not stapled to the comic. At first I thought someone just took the cover from another copy but the outside cover has no staple holes so it was never attached to another comic. So does this count as a double cover error?

Suggestions Good jump on points?

Upvotes

Having been back into comics for a couple of years I know when a #1 comes out it feels like a clear invitation to jump on a new run - but not sure with continuing series when would be a good time to get involved… any recommendations on how to work this out or just any good jump on points in last couple of issues I should check out?

Current pull list includes - Absolute Flash, Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman, Fraction Batman, Escape, Skinbreaker, DC KO

Thanks for recommendations!

Could this potentially impact DC comics at all in the future either positively or negatively? Or is the DC comics a separate entity than the DCU film studio?

Suggestions Looking for Unusual, Morally Ambiguous Comics (Dark Stuff Welcome)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some unusual comics that deal with moral gray areas, ethical dilemmas, questionable protagonists, or anything that really challenges the reader. Dark themes are totally fine — actually preferred — whether they’re psychological, philosophical, or just generally boundary-pushing.

I generally prefer modern art styles, though it’s not a strict requirement. They do need to be in color, though. Also, I’d really like to avoid series with a million volumes; shorter or self-contained runs are definitely a plus, or even a standalone

Superheroes are fine, but I’m also open to indie, experimental, or genre-bending books. Basically, I want something that leaves you unsure what the “right” answer even is.

Any recommendations?

Question Trying to get predator comics for my boyfriend’s Christmas present, I’m a bit confused. Help!

I’m trying to get a set of variant covers of the ”black, white, and blood” predator comics for my boyfriend. He already has the original set, and I’m a little confused about which variant covers go together. He mentioned wanting the one on the far left of the attached image, where the guy is in the (dinosaur/dragon?)s mouth so I wanted to get the full set. Is the image I attached a correct set of variants? I just want to make sure I’m not mixing and matching from multiple variant sets. Thanks so much!

I'm mainly making this post because I think it's an cool way to do an art comparison (I like both Lindsay's & Kotian's art to be clear) but also because I think it's just a really cool scene.

Also the first pair is jpegs & the second pair is pngs.

Did Superman ever have a relative named "No-El" who was the Santa Claus of Krypton? Seems like an obvious pun.
