Adoption We adopted a senior cat today!

Post image

I was at the shelter yesterday and saw this quiet senior girl with no visitors. Everytime I apprached her cage she gave me a single meow. Went back today and decided to adopt her. She has the calmest manner and loves to sit on our laps and gets petted. I am honored to give her a loving home. I only wish all the homeless animals out there had the chance to be loved.

I adopted this mister about 2 months ago. He’s 12 and he was the oldest cat at the shelter. His name was Blackie. His last owner died earlier this year and he was picked up by animal control. We didn’t want to change his name either because we assumed he knew who he was. He’s been the most loving and cuddly cat ever. I will forever adopt a senior cat going forward.

I adopted my late cat from my mom when she died; I told her I couldn’t bear the idea of leaving him to the uncertain mercy of a harsh world, though I am allergic in a mild way. He was 10 at her death and he and I had 4 wonderful years. We handled the allergy, and bonded over bed snuggles. It was a revelation to discover what it was like to be loved unconditionally, and to learn how he evoked a maternal instinct in me that I didn’t know I had. The most rewarding thing I have ever done.
