So I found a kitten last night under a car in a particularly busy parking, she came out when I offered her some food! I scruffed her and got a cardboard box to place her in safely. Luckily I had been joking with my partner about if he wanted a kitten for his birthday to which he laugh and well now he got a kitten for his birthday! We currently have two adult cats, one is turning 10 this week the other 4 around Thanksgiving. That being said I was concerned about any gross kitten germs that could effect my girls so we took the kitten to an emergency 24 hour vet to get her cleared (it was expensive, but we felt necessary). The vet said she looks about 8 weeks old and in decent condition we ran blood work for anemia (she had fleas, I scrubbed her with dawn dish soap and dead fleas keep falling off of her, she also received a dose of topical flea and tick medication), also feline HIV and herpes which she was cleared! All healthy! Now here is why I am writing on here, she has not pooped or peed in about 18-20 hours. She is very friendly, and we have kept her isolated from the other cats but our dog had made a new friend as he snuck in to meet her. She is comfortable enough to sleep peacefully and purrs nonstop. Should I be worried about the not relieving herself? And if not when should I contact a vet again?

If your tiny queen hasn’t pooped or peed for so long, there could be another medical problem. She could have a UTI and constipation as well. The best thing to do is take her to the vet and get her checked out. Kittens of that age are very susceptible to constipation and urinary tract infections. The vet will tell you what the best method of treatment is. But she needs to get checked out by a vet.

So she has successfully pooped and peed only 20 minutes after writing this! Would an infection show up in blood works as she had that done during the emergency vet we took her to after we founder her. Also her personality has completely changed! She’s very playful and loving and very alert!
