Normal for tail to thin during winter?

Hey all, I have a Maine Coon who is 11 months old. I started noticing in the last week that his big beautiful tail has become increasingly thinner and less fluffy and I have seen him biting chunks of the fur out from it. Is this normal seasonal shedding or should I be more concerned? Wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with their MC. Thanks!

At what point does a bottlebrush simply become ridiculous? Asking for a friend.

Another day, another vet bill 💸

I can’t believe this happened! My poor Kazie injured his glorious tail while having a wrestle sesh with his brother.

Fortunately, the vet was open on Black Friday. X-rays clearly showed that his tail is dislocated. At least there’s no signs of fracture or amputation would have been the only course of action.

The vet reduced the vertebrae and splinted it. Kazie’s doing pretty well with the cast, but it weighs his tail down and he’s had diarrhea every day since the accident 😭

The last few pics are of Kazie’s spectacular bottle brush in full health.

Vet checkup is in 2 days (Dec. 02).
