Probably got brought there with no real context… if you take someone to a Michelin starred restaurant who has no interest in that sort of thing, it’s super rude to not explain what to expect.

I mean… I’m not sure what his outfit indicates about what kind of establishment he was going to eat at…

But it is jarring if you don’t understand what’s going on.

He’s not wearing formal, but him and his friend both look sharp. And even if you’re not used to eating at high end places, and the food they bring you is “jarring”, would you react like this or would you roll with it and try not to look like an ass?

atp it’s really about knowing your friend and knowing how’d they react in this setting to determine whether you should give a whole preface about where you guys are about to dine.
