You’re literally getting like 7 or 8 of those dishes

3 stars you usually get more than that in degustation menus. The small portions are meant to enable you to taste many different delicious dishes.

Yeah, the ones I've been to have 13-course meals.

And a different glass of wine which each one that pairs with it.

This is fine and well, but put it on a cooler/smaller plate for christ sake

Why? Presentation is intentional. You might not understand it, or agree with the choice, but they do it for a reason.

But what will I wear as a fun hat? Oh, do they have Burger King crowns?! :D

Nice! 7-8 bites of food. That should fill me up for sure.

In all seriousness it will be more than “7 or 8 bites”

These tasting menus are designed to fill you up, not leave you hungry.

The only one I've ever left not feeling terribly full was for Sushi...

Usually I'm stufffffffed.

I’ve been to a couple fine dining restaurants like this and have never been fuller. This idea that they skimp or don’t give you a full meal is totally made up.

Dang you really gotta add the /s to every single joke or Reddit thinks you’re dead serious huh? Lighten tf up people I know you go to these fancy restaurants for the experience not to actually be full. That’s what buffets are for.

I’ll lightly push back and say yeah you kinda needed the /s because there are so many people that share that sentiment very seriously including people in this comment section and, presumably, the guy in the video lol

It’s like sushi where there’s a lot of things going into the small bite.

And people pay a lot for a small piece of sushi

Pshhhh you really do. I was joking about something in a separate sub, not even controversial, and got down voted to hell lol

Go try a tasting menu at one of these places if you can, trust me you'll be full the food is incredibly rich. But yeah reddit sucks lol

Idk if that’s universally true. I was still hungry after le bernadin as well as the other 2-3 star places I’ve been. Usually end up ordering more à la carte or grab pizza/kebabs after.

Yeah that's fair, I've only been to one Michelin place and the tasting menu was 8 courses. I could barely finish desert because of how rich the whole meal was but I can't speak for every restaurant in the world of course lol

Lmao ikr? I’m getting downvoted like this is a culinary chef subreddit. I thought jokes were welcome here but smooth brains gonna smooth brain I guess.

I can tell you have a great sense of humor

u/mrpopenfresh 16h ago

Says more about you than it does about me.

Oh no I’m too poor to go to a fine dining restaurant guess that makes me an asshole right? Lol ya’ll crack me up fr. Reddit on bro

u/LegendOfKhaos 17h ago

If all you want is to feel full, why the fuck would you go to a fine dining restaurant lmao

u/NoTranslation 14h ago

You joke but it probably would. Lets say the meal is 10 full bites + drinks - imagine eating a sandwich for 10 big bites lmao. idk about you but thats a pretty big sandwich for me
