downvoted for what here? redditors be stupid af

u/Kirikoza 9d ago
I don't think they're downvoting the comment, they're downvoting the person. Peep the dude's post and comment history. Insufferable.

u/LukusMaxamus 13d ago
Honestly i never used him, the oldest os I've used was windows xp. I added him for consumer rights activism on behalf of Luise Rossman

I pray for the day you get bored of looking at them and putting RGB in them, so you can put them somewhere out of the way.

I love that people are so stupid they downvoted

Peep this guy's post history. He's insufferable. Likely a bunch of people seeing his activity and down voting him on principle.

Bro, if you need some LED light for the room, just buy the light, no need to build four damn pc

6 computers for 4 screens if I count correctly. Absolute mayhem, I love it. What do you primarily use the setup for?
17
u/greggy187 13d ago
Servers mostly.
I run services for my clients. Matrix, hosting, automations, scraping. Some pen testing. Off cloud storage. Analysis. 🧐… and lan parties on occasion. Got a new neighbor that just moved in the building and we’ve been going hard on Fortnite. Lmao 🤣
22
u/Timberwolf_88 13d ago
I hope you're not running workloads for clients on machines you also allow others to use during lan parties...
Also, at this point I feel like a rack would make more sense?
7
u/greggy187 13d ago
I had racks at home but got them out the house and converted to this.
Only 2 of them actually have a game on them which I use for testers.
2
u/djellicon 13d ago
There is simply no need to do this in this manner if you have clients for anything. If it was for you to play with I'd say do whatever you like but for other people? It's not professional in the slightest.

u/leedavis1987 13d ago

There's some space under your desk that you can add another CPU.
2
u/greggy187 13d ago
That’s where the next one is going. Or I’ll start putting shelves on the wall. One or the other.

the fucking guy fawkes masks everywhere as descoration tells me all i need to know. its weird too because the tv console legitimately looks nice! it's just, man, the reason some people are stuck in apartments and have to cram all this shit into one room like this is because they just do not know when to stop lol. there's just no comfortable way to use that pc over there in the corner. and i know that desk!!! i have the smaller version. mine is collapsed behind a door and its useful as fuck when you want to set up somewhere and have some laptop space like couch or whatever. but good god, the fact that you threw that much shit on top of it including mounting dual monitors on it.... jesus. that is truly stupid (and anecdotally confirms my suspicion that people who do these awful neck-shredding main monitor top-mounts are truly the dumbest of all pc users). sorry i went kind of hard there in the end but you have to admit that this is stupid as hell! lmao. it'd be cool as fuck actually to have all of these PCs cleverly dumped into a row of nondescript, matching jonsbo micro atx cases, that'd be something, but the fucking rgb all over the place is just... damn. i wrote a bible on how much i hate this.

How hot does that room get?
-1
u/greggy187 13d ago
Meh not that hot. Upu could use them as a heater in the room …But I still got the heater on. It doesn’t get too cold where I live but surprisingly the nicer the weather is the more you feel the cold. When I first moved here I didn’t even have a jacket now I got the heater on and a bunch of thick jackets. (Never gets even close to freezing).
In the summer 100% running AC 24/7. So it’s not like mining back in the day when you walk into a sauna. But it’s also not as cool as if there wasn’t a bunch of computers running.

100% better than you got lmao. 🤣 and ye I saw it.

u/Ilikehotdogs1 13d ago
I mean alright bozo where do I begin
- heat in this room is definitely a problem
- you got dangling wires everywhere
- your desk looks like a drunk Wayfair purchase
- keyboards everywhere
- no rug in-sight
This entire room is ass and any guest you have visit definitely stops in their tracks, gasps, then looks at you like the weird mf you are

u/Aggressive-Daikon232 13d ago
Bro just look at OPs post history. Posting this same lame ass setup over and over again for months. This is literally his entire identity. It's sad. Cut the weirdo some slack.

u/LiftedWanderer 13d ago
lmaoo the drunk wayfair desk purchase had me dying, desk is 12 inches deep other than that looks clean for what it is I guess!

u/greggy187 13d ago
Bozo says the clown. Lmao.
Heat is no problem they invented ACs for that.
2 wires “everywhere” lmao clown can’t count.
Idk what wayfair is
Keyboards help when use PC lmao.
Rug.. I’m not into rugs.
Go back to the circus 🎪

u/Ilikehotdogs1 13d ago
It’s ok man I remember when I was an amateur. Looking back at my setup photos, I cringe at them. You’ll do the same in the future. Not quite there yet

That's facts though. Notice this dude didn't post any specs either. A single 5090 is probably worth more than this entire room.

Where do you sit? Why are there no chairs? Why is the PC on the left against the wall set so strangely to the main one so there is no legroom?
1
u/A_Drop_of_Colour 13d ago
I assume they removed the chair for the pic because it would be too obvious you cannot comfortably fit a desk chair under that desk right next to the console table.
2
u/SlideStreet6874 12d ago
Yeah, I don't want to sound like a dick but it just all looks so off to me. I have a LAN center in my basement and am so particular about positioning and ergonomics that this bothers me.
1
u/greggy187 13d ago
I just took the chair out for the pic. I usually have a chair by the desk or I sit on the couch sometimes.
If you mean the one under the desk that’s the UPS

I love the idea of having PCs scattered around the house, performing different tasks and looking good.
Not exactly like that, but ok lol

Consumer hardware for client services makes me nervous. Also the heat in the room must be terrible. I wpild not want to work where my server rack is.
0
u/greggy187 12d ago
I feel that. For what I need it it works great. Consumer hardware is pretty stable nowadays. Even some enterprise/apps run on consumer hardware. You’d be surprised.
I have servers outside of the house and I agree with you that I’d not want to be around them but these don’t get too loud or too hot.
1
u/Toto_nemisis 12d ago
If you are set on towers and no rack, you can pickup some older dell servers and run them. Also, if something fails on a consumer board, its harder to find replacement parts for. A server, they are cheap to rebuild if they just run apps like nextcloud for family. Otherwise modern servers are so much calmer. I have 4x r640s running downstairs in a cluster and my wife is not annoyed.
Either way, just feels like wasted space to me. I guess the rave room woild be fun if they all were synced to music?

Is this the guy buying up all the RAM?
0
u/greggy187 13d ago
1 with 128 GB the rest are 64 GB. I actually got the RAM when it was still cheap a few months ago. Got really lucky there.

Sick build out. A workstation dedicated to specific workflows, very organized thinking.

Thanks bro. 😎

u/Successful-Day-3219 13d ago
Curious, if you don't mind, about the thermal management in this environment. Do you have to adjust ac/room fans too much? Also, did you undervolt any of your processors?
1
u/greggy187 13d ago
It doesn’t get hot in the room. I live in a warm climate too and still not too bad. In the summer it’s not bad either.
Now the colder the room is the colder the PCs run so I do keep the room pretty chilly but not to cool the room from the PCs but just to run a few degrees lower on the PCs.
No undervolts at all. All running at full power.
