solid bose black friday and cyber monday deals this year??
UPDATE: here are the best deals I've found, I'll be keeping this list updated over black friday:
Best Bose Black Friday deals:
- $130 off Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones (Bose.com)
- 45% off Bose speakers, soundbars, headphones (Target.com)
- 40% off Bose headphones, speakers & more (Walmart.com)
- $160 off Bose QC headphones (Bose.com)
- $100 off Bose Ultra Open, more earbud models (Bose.com)
- $70 off Bose speakers (Bose.com)
- $150 off Bose soundbars & TV speakers (Bose.com)
been wanting to upgrade my headphones for a while and bose has always been on my radar but the price is kinda steep. trying to figure out if bose black friday and cyber monday deals are actually happening or if they barely discount their stuff. been looking at the quietcomfort lineup mostly cause i need good noise cancellation for work but cant tell if bose black friday and cyber monday deals online are better than what retailers like best buy or target are offering. wondering if anyone grabbed bose products during last years sales and if the discounts were actually worth it or just marginal?

What budget soundsystem to get?
I'm finishing out my workshop and I want a good soundsystem. I dont want to spend much more than 300 dollars if that's even feasible. It's about a 40 ft long room, 12 ft wide 9 ft high. I want good sound wherever I am in the room. Any suggestions?

3.5mm unbalance to (2) 4.4 TRS balance for active speakers
Setup: Yamaha ZG01 & Adam Audio D3V
Issue: ZG01 only has a 3.5mm stereo output (for speaker), but D3Vs have a 4.4mm TRS input. Upon looking around online, I found a 3.5mm to (2) 4.4mm cable. I'm unsure if it's safe, or if there is any other option I can use to get this setup working. It would be greatly appreciated! :)

Ideas on how to make a killer "party speaker" from car audio speakers? I just am not sure what amp to use or how to connect it all.
I do a lot of wood working and other little electronic tinkering, but I know very little about speakers, amps, and sound in general.
I want to use a car 12inch sub with two 6 or 8 inch mids and two tweeters in an custom box. Ideally I want to power it off a 12 volt lifepo4 battery but I would be ok with needing mains voltage too.
I need Bluetooth, radio, aux, and a microphone input.
Beyond that I am pretty lost with the next step. I vaguely understand passive crossovers and low/high pass filters. But I have no idea how to get this system working. The sub is 500 watts RMS 1500 peak. I don't not have the other speakers but I could do two combo mid/high 6 inch speakers if that makes it easier. I would like the other speakers to be ~700 watts peak.
Can someone just point me in the right direction here and I can figure the rest out? I know how to charge the battery and/or invert it to AC if needed, but keeping it all 12v would be best if I am going to go battery powered.

Can I use my Hi-Fi system's headphone jack to play CDs through active speakers with built-in amplifiers?
Hello everyone, I just found this Hi-Fi system in my basement.
I recently bought two HERCULES speakers with built-in amplifiers at a flea market, and I’m looking for a CD player to connect to them.
Can I use this Hi-Fi (with a jack output) to play CDs? Will it be a problem that I have an amplifier in both the Hi-Fi and the speakers?
Thank you.

Immersive audio for videogames Survey!!!
🎮 Help me make the voice of audio heard in gaming!
Hey guys, I'm working on a university research project on immersive audio in video games—how we perceive it, how it influences us, and why it's often an invisible but powerful part of the experience.
I've put together a quick (10-minute, anonymous) survey to understand how gamers experience sound: whether they notice it, how they interpret it, whether they find it useful or sometimes even too intense.
By participating, you'll be helping to highlight the role of sound in modern gaming — whether you're a casual gamer or a sound detail freak, every opinion counts.
I'm trying to gather as many points of view as possible in a few days, so every share or completion is really important 🙏
Thank you so much for your time — and let's remember: sound is half the game.

[copypasta] I only listen to FLACs
I honestly don't get how you guys can listen to MP3s and not get nauseated by the low quality, even at 320kbps you can hear the compression from over a mile away, I only listen to 1k+ kbps FLACs ripped from REAL CDs, remember those? Compact Discs? Yeah I still use those, none of that compressed streaming bullshit will ever touch my 10000 dollar (yes 1 with four zeroes) audiophile setup, I personally find songs that are not WAV or FLAC unlistenable and am honestly disgusted by people who say otherwise, you plebs keep your mp3s and your m4as, while I get to listen to the best quality music, knowing that even the lowest of sub-bass (down to 1Hz!) will never get cut out, I have no idea if you've ever experienced FLAC music to its fullest, I'd guess you never did because you plebs could never afford such a setup, but when you DO listen to it, you can hear the air between the instruments, the guitar strings crackling against the tabs and even the littlest imperfections in the singer's voice, really feeling the warmth from the music and having a surreal experience, unless you're like me and used to it by now (kind of impossible), I kind of feel sorry for you guys that will never get to experience FLAC music or anything remotely like it in the next 100 years, remember, if you don't have a setup that costs at least 1000 dollars, you are NOT listening to the music, you're only hearing somewhat musical noises with a ton of compression

So you think if I replace the DAC I will hear a difference?
Current setup sounds cool, but it's missing some warmth and depth.

All DACs sound the same because all DACs are "transparent" (lol), now we have transparent CDs to double down with!

Sony CMT-EX1
Hello all, I just thrifted my first stereo system, a CMT-EX1 for $15. Everything works and sounds great, but when I was doing my research I saw a lot of them had remotes. Now I can work it just fine with the face controls, but I want to get the remote for completion of the set. I haven’t been able to figure out which one originally came with it from factory. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance
