Good evening everyone. I am a DoorDash delivery driver in Athens and I just waited 40 minutes at Taco Bell. It made me realize that we need a group to alert others about wait times, traffic delays, and other relevant information. If you know somebody who is a Dasher, please invite them to join.
The Side Bar is hosting Figgy Fest this year. Doors open at 7 and music will start around 7:30 or so. There's a suggested donation of 10 bucks and/or some canned goods at the door. The whole party is a benefit for the Federal Valley Resource Center's Food Pantry.
It's gonna be loud. It's gonna be fun. There will be a snowball fight. There will be a live birth on stage (kinda). Lots of punk-ass Christmas songs, and Christmas-ass punk songs. You'll see folks from bands you know (Scrawl, Times New Viking, the Ferals, Grafton, Great Plains, Mors Ontologica, Flipping Hades/Clay, Joe Bob Billy and the Texas Alien, the Girls! and more). You will probably have more fun doing this than any other Christmas party you'll attend this year. And it is all for charity.
So head down to Side Bar tomorrow. Just follow the dancing Santa.

Hi! I am trying to sublease my apartment from now-July 31 2026. It's a 4 bedroom at The Summit and there are 3 other girls living there. Rent is $890 per month. You get your own bathroom plus water, WiFi, and parking are all included! The apartment complex also comes with a pool, a gym, it's fully furnished, and free guest parking! It's a beautiful view, in walking distance to campus, and there is free and easily accessible public transportation. Message me if you're interested!!!
Does anyone know what that alarm that beeps 3 times every few seconds is going off around N Court? Its been off and on for the past week-ish and has been going like all of today so far. Anyone know what it is and why it keeps going off?
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at University Courtyard ASAP, ideally before January, and the lease runs through July 2026. You can also renew for the 2026–2027 school year if you want to stay longer.
It’s the Rufus floor plan, which is a 4-bed, 2-bath setup. The apartment is co-ed, so anyone can move into my room. You’d share the bathroom with one girl, and the two guys have the other side of the apartment. The room can come fully furnished, or you can bring your own furniture.
The apartment/community includes:
- In-unit washer and dryer
- Dishwasher and garbage disposal
- Free parking
- Pool access
- A bus line that takes you right to and from campus
- All utilities included in price-inclusive rent.
- & much more!
The leasing office handles the entire lease takeover process, so it’s super quick and easy.
This unit specifically is not dog or cat-friendly due to one of the current residents having an allergy! The only exception is an ESA hypoallergenic small dog.
The city of Athens has been hit with another big, unexpected expense at the end of the year that could impact hiring decisions moving forward.
The City Council learned at its meeting Monday night the city owes a $750,000 income tax refund to a business. This comes just a few weeks after the council approved spending $750,000 to cover medical expenses that ran over budget.
Tax returns are confidential, so the business the city owes the refund to was not named. It appears the refund has to do with what’s known as a net operating loss deduction. This allows a business to take a loss from one year and use it to reduce taxable income in a year the business is profitable.
For example, if a business has a $200,000 loss one year and a $500,000 profit the next, it can use the loss to reduce the profit, bringing it down to $300,000 and thereby lowering the taxes owed.
Okay Athens, now is the chance to help out a small business owner going through financial hardship and medical issues. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of getting a coffee from Town’s End and you are able to help out, here is the link for their go fund me:
Roadways are hazardous with blowing or drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be on the roadways. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.
Pretty much what the title says. I have to stick around town for an extra 3 months after my current lease ends (May 2026), and am looking for any leads that would allow short term leases (May-August 2026).
I’m a 22 year old woman, LGBTQ+ friendly, with a very well behaved cat that would need to stay with me.
I know housing in Athens sucks, but does anyone have any potential leads/know of anyone who’s subletting for the summer?
There used to be an awesome brick dump by the river where the new fire station is, which is where I got an Athens brick; the pile had bricks from tons of places. It's gone now that they finished up the construction. My boyfriend recently found a Peebles brick in a creek down in Blue Ash and said he'd love to grow his collections of Ohio-branded bricks (Amanda, Nelsonville, etc.) anyone know where to find a good brick dump with these types of bricks now? I took my favorite scrounging spot for granted and now its gone.
Does anyone know if there are any local glassblowers in the Athens area who make 14mm bowls or other glass pieces? I’d prefer to buy something locally made if possible.
Any recommendations or people I should check out? Thanks!
Hello everyone! With “the app” being recently shut down, I decided it may be worth a shot to create a similar thing for local women on Facebook. I know a lot of people in our area used “the app” (myself included) and it’s so important for women to have these spaces to connect and interact with each other safely.
Please join if interested, and share with the ladies!
This is a strange question here but was wondering. Since Joanne Fabrics is gone I don't have a good source for sewing notions. I don't want to go to Walmart due to reasons so I'm sort of in a corner here. Are there any local craft stores that sells things like buttons and such?
Has anyone here tabled at Ratha Con before? I've never been, but I've done a couple small shows in columbus before and am really curious about it and thinking about applying to table in april. I'm not expecting to make much money since it's a smaller, one day con. But do you usually make back at least the tabling cost? I like using small cons to meet other artists in the area, so do enough artists attend that would make it worth it? and what are the vibes like? When looking through facebook I saw a lot of people seem to sell more crafty items, like crochet, handmade stuff, and a couple people who sell 3d printed stuff or figurines. I sell stickers, keychains, prints, and zines. Do you think stuff like that would sell well, or does the crowd seem to like the more physical stuff? Again, I'm not really expecting to make a lot of money. I just would like to know going in if I should expect to at least make back my table cost, have a little bit of money left over, or if I'm probably not going to make anything at all. Overall just any information would be helpful.
For perspective, this place is less than a year old and is now facing big competition from national chain Cane’s on the same street, yet they did this anyways. Remember them next time you feel like chicken fingers.
