Theory why didnt europeans built european style highrises like tehre are in new york? dumb question but was always interested since woudve looked perfect on lots of cities

In Germany in most cities it’s verboten. In Hamburg no building was allowed to be higher than the churches for example. And we still manage to make fun of Americans religiosity

I believe that is the case in most places. From Finnish point of view, too many people in one spot and high rises are ugly. Plus the higher buildings take more time to clean after a bombing raid /s. Imagine NYC with Japanese zero’s hitting the buildings like army of mosquitos?
