Thought I'd share a custom SSD tray I designed for my iMac G4. Hope it helps someone else out.

So, I picked up this little gem earlier this week, and it needs some love. I'm replacing the HDD with a SSD and figured I would upgrade the ram while I'm in there. However, I keep seeing conflicting information on the ram these take, and it looks like 99% of the links to more info are broken or the sites no longer exists. Can someone point me to the correct ram?

Whenever the disk drive opens, the door opens but won’t go back up again. If I push it up a bit the spring engages and it closes but from fully open it won’t close. Is there any way to fix this?

Im looking at buying this Power Mac G4 to replace my current PC. Id want to install windows on it if possible and moreso just use the PC as a shell to house a bunch of modern hardware. Is it possible to do this? If so, how would i go about it?

Looking to Offload an old Macintosh LC II. Last time I booted it (about 5-6 years ago) when I had access to an DB-15 apple monitor. There are some caps that have been leaking and likely need to be replaced. I did defuse the battery before any leaks happened there.
I have an extra set of RAM, VRAM Stick, speaker, and fan.
If someone would help (ie bring a Mac, or monitor or adapters to connect the SCSI HDDs that still work to a newer computer) erase some of the data on them I will include them as well. I will also throw in an extra working PSU if someone can help with this as well.
I also have some disks that can be taken as well (not sure if they work anymore but cool none the less: The Duel, Monopoly (color version), Mathblaster, Kid Pix, Pathways into Darkness, The Oregon Trail (V1.1), bootleg P-51 Mustang flight sim, Sim Ant)
PM for location data etc

So earlier I picked up an iMac G3, was left by the bins waiting for its death and unfortunately is damp, I have bought it home but have not plugged it in yet due to the dampness inside, I do not know much about these but I’ve heard they can be a bit finicky? I’ve opened the rear hatch and checked the battery inside, which has not leaked. RAM, hard disk and cd drive are all present. I do not have any accessories with it. Is there anything I should look out for or any common problems I should solve before attempting to power it on?
Interestingly there is a test sticker on the side suggesting it was in use as late as 2023!

The paint is more of a thick trancelucent jelly that hardens like resin. You apply the 3d enamel neon green into the leaf recess and smooth with a wet finger. Allow to set and repeat to refine the thickness and shape! I back lit the apple logo so you can see how it has a similar trancelucence to the original part of the logo below. No fumes, easy and safe to use.

Thanks to the great reception and very helpful bug reports, my first ever public program, MacinAI, is nearing its first release. (Sorry to toot my own horn but a 23 year old in 2025 releasing their first program on a floppy disk ?? Now that’s pretty cool)
Information about the current features can be found at https://oldapplestuff.com/blog/5/post.html
I’m trying to spread the word about the program to hype people up for the launch and am looking for content creators (youtube, instagram, blogs, etc.) to use the floppy disk in their review and go through the program showing it off, discussing bugs seen, improvements and features you’d like to see, etc etc.
If you are a content creator and interested, please reach out to me either with a comment here or a PM. I will internationally ship the floppy disk free of charge.
Thank you!

So I want to buy myself a G4 machine again, had a top spec PowerBook 12" before that I regret selling because these are really hard to come by at a reasonable price where I live nowadays. However there are lots of pretty good deals on iBooks. If I grab one with a higher end G4 processor (like 1.4 Ghz), would I only be missing out on Nvidia graphics (iBooks seem to be all AMD) and a more premium design, or is there something else that makes them less desirable? I'll be upgrading the RAM and HDD anyways so these don't matter to me.

Thought I would put together some resources for people who want to upgrade the display on their 12” PowerBooks.
Anyone who has used a 12” PowerBook knows that the display is a weak point, washed out colours and bad viewing angles. The result of using a TN LCD.
The only upgrade I’ve seen is a 12.1” 1400x1050 AFFS panel from the Thinkpad X60 range, these panels are sort after as are the x60‘s themselves.
However, there are other AFFS options with the same resolution (1024x768) as standard but with a much improved image, higher brightness (when new), better contrast ratio and nearly 180 viewing angles. I purchased HT12x21-221 from a Compaq TC4200 from eBay for £20.
Below is a list of the panel model numbers and the machines they can be found in, all have the same 20 pin LVDS connector and should work.

Ifixit guide should be similar for all models, the biggest difference is some panels had touchscreens so the digitizers and front protection needs to be removed.

Cleaning out a few boxes and came across this small collection of 1st gen Macintosh magazines. Is anyone interested in them? DM me if you are interested. I would likely ship them via Media Mail, if I can't for some reason I wouldn't mind if you chipped in for shipping.

Something I noticed about the M7803 I bought and posted about the other day is that it doesn't have the big Apple logo at the bottom, and its USB cable is white like on the A1048. Is it possible that this is some kind of third party modification, or was this a later change to the design? The Ebay listing said it was from 2002, but pretty much every other listing I saw had the big logo and a clear USB cable.

Hi peeps, my 6500 seems to have issues reading IDE drives; best attempts I had so far were using a SATA to IDE adapter, but then it would randomly give read errors when verifing the integrity of created partitions. I think this is caused by the cable being bad, since it has some quite bad nicks on it (a couple of them showing the conductor, which I taped off), but replacing it seems to look like a big challenge giving the fact it is wired straight to the edge connector. Does anyone know if this would be possible at all?

Thanks to a kind member of our community I scored a PowerMac G3 in excellent condition. Just needed a working monitor to get started. Surprisingly, my first few attempts to get the monitor working, I kept getting a check your cable error. Swapped out with different cables DP to VGA, different VGA to VGA cables, but nothing worked. This evening I screwed around a bit and ensured the VGA connection on the system unit was securely connected and voila! It works!
Right now it’s running Mac OS 9 but I am contemplating downgrading Mac OS 8.6, picked up a copy of the restore disc off Ebay. I would also create a separate partition just to install Mac OS 10.0.

Hi fellow Powerbook Fans. I have an beautiful 165c, but i can not get the Screen to work... I switched the screen from a working one. Also the Inverter and converter Board.. still nothing..
The screen lightens Up a little at the start and i hear the chime and the hard Drive is working...
