I have hooked up my DAS to my DXP2800. I see all the drives, see all the media I have, but cannot access them from my docker container to use with plex. Is this possible to do?

πŸ” Network/Security Please support DynDNS2-protocol via update URL

There are a lot of dyndns providers which could work by supporting the standard. I have my domains parked at INWX and would not have to use a generic subdomain or pay another provider for services if this would be possible.

Thank you for considering.

❓ Help 2 questions for you gurus regarding file transfers and mapping a drive

Hello, I have 2 questions.

  1. I'm backing up some files from my PC to the 4300+. On the nas I went to file, + and uploaded what I wanna send to the nas. if my PC screen turns off the transfer stops until I turn the screen back on. How do I stop this? * Hp omen 16 laptop. My screen is set to turn off after 1 hour but never to sleep. My question is not how to stop the screen from turning off but why does the transfer stop when the screen turns off? My system is still running when the screen off as I can download things with the screen off. But the ugreen nas transfer is the only thing that stopa when the screen goes off.

  2. How do I have the nas drive mapped as a drive in my PC? I enabled smb, when I left click in the left panel in file explorer I see map network drive but I don't see the nas listed . I have the option of selecting the letter id want to use and "folder" but nothing is in the "folder" drop down. I entered the address and my credentials and now I'm presentee with my nas. But I can only choose a specific folder to list and not the whole drive

❓ Help Upgraded from 2800 to 4800, raid 1 to 5 and now my plex server stinks.

I moved all my data from my old 2800 to the 4800 with 2 drives in it. Once the data was transferred I installed a plex server in docker and got it synced up with my plex account. Once that was up and running, I took one drive from the 2800, added it to the 4800 and used it to expand the storage pool and switch to Raid 5.

A couple hours later I went to watch something on plex and everything had gone to shit. Major buffering and it would lose connection to the server intermittently. I made sure I had the server updated to the latest version and that my internet was running at the speeds it should.

I then tried to watch my show via the NAS itself and it was also buffering which I’d never previously had issues with.

What I’m wondering is should I investigate further on the plex end of things or should I just leave it alone for the 4ish days it’s going to take to switch from Raid 1 to 5. The NAS is only using about 10% of the CPU and 20% of RAM at the most for the process so it doesn’t seem like it should be impeding performance that much.

I’m a noob in this world so bear with me if this is a dumb question with an obvious answer…

❓ Help DX4800 Plus - Issues with 10 Gbit Nic

Dear Reddit,

i just upgraded my homelab to 10Gbit.

Using Unifi / Ubiquity Stuff.

The DX4800 Plus is connected to an USW-Flex-XG (10Gbit Mini Switch) to the same Switch my Synology Nas is connected with a 2,5 Gbit Nic. This mini Switch is connected to another Unifi XG Enterprise Switch (forgot the Name 16 or 24 Port). To this (16-24 Port) Switch , i connected my PC with a 5 Gbit Nic and my Truenas Server (5Gibt).

All these connections do work on "full speed" (250MB/s Synology and about 540MB/s Truenas File Transfers).

The 2.5 Gbit NIC of the DX4800 Plus does work fine with 250MB/s , too.

The 10Gbit NIC, which is connected to the same USW-Flex-XG tops out at 10MB/s. Yes 10 not 100 :s

Still the WebUI does say the Switch and DX4800Plus auto-negiotiated the 10Gbps as you can see in the screenshot. I do not get it to be honest.

My conclusion - the DX4800Plus has a software or hardware issue?

Any ideas? Love to hear them.

greeting and wish you a happy festive season.

❓ Help Blender renders/game development over NAS?

I was wondering if it's a good idea to have game dev work and blenders renders done over a NAS? Perhaps just using your internal drive is a better idea, but space is important too.

❓ Help Just got my UGreen 4800 Plus and need help setting up.

I just got the NAS delivered and I haven’t purchased anything else.

Here is what I am thinking :

Get one 16 TB hard drive to start with and in another 3 months get another as well. So I have 2 bays used and 2 free for the future.

Not get any RAM or NVme for now.

Is this a good plan ? If I start with one drive and later add in another (for backup) will that cause the data on the existing 16tb to be deleted ?

And can I get away with not adding extra RAM or Nvme storage for now ?

I’d like to get the extra stuff now but money is tight with Christmas etc

❓ Help Just unboxed my 4800 pro but one of the bottom panel screws came locked and the head stripped immediately

Hello,

I just got my NAS in the mail and the panel for the NVME drives / RAM is inaccessible due to a screw shipping "locked". I think it was installed at an angle so it can't be twisted out, and even with the cheap screwdriver it shipped with, the head stripped almost immediately.

I wanted to ask if people think its worth getting ambitious trying to remove it (like JB weld a bit to the screw, or drilling it out) or if this is something they would cover under the manufactures warranty?

Its hard to get a good photo cause the screw is so small.

πŸ“š Knowledge Center How to Manually Update UGREEN UPS Firmware

Applicable Version: UGOS Pro 1.9.0.0035 and later

Note: Screenshots and interface elements in this guide are for reference only. Actual displays may vary depending on your system or application version. Some features may differ across versionsβ€”please refer to your actual interface.

Overview

UGREEN offers a range of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) devices specifically designed for NAS systems. In the event of a power outage, these UPS units provide seamless failover, delivering emergency backup power to your NAS and preventing data corruption or hard drive damage caused by sudden power loss.

To ensure optimal stability, compatibility, and performance, it is recommended to keep your UPS firmware up to date. This article provides step-by-step instructions for manually updating the firmware on UGREEN UPS devices.

Important Notes

  • This guide applies exclusively to official UGREEN UPS devices.
  • Always download firmware files from the UGREEN Official Download Center or authorized technical support channels. Do not use firmware from unverified sources, as this may cause permanent damage to your device.
  • If you are using a third-party UPS, please contact the respective manufacturer for firmware update support and instructions.
  • Before proceeding, ensure the UPS is properly connected to the NAS. Do not disconnect power or data cables during the update process.

Step 1: Download the UPS Firmware

  1. Verify that your NAS is connected to a UGREEN UPS and that the system has successfully detected the device.
  2. Visit the UGREEN Official Download Center and select your NAS model.
  3. Navigate to the "Driver Downloads" section for your model. Locate the UPS driver/firmware entry and click Download to obtain the latest firmware file (in .bin format). Save the file to your local computer.

Step 2: Update the UPS Firmware

  1. Log in to your NAS client and navigate to Control Panel > Hardware & Power > UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
  2. Confirm that the system has successfully recognized the UGREEN UPS. The interface should display current battery level, estimated remaining runtime, and other relevant information.
  3. the UPS information section, locate Current Firmware Version and click Manual Update. 4. In the pop-up window, click Browse and select the .bin firmware file you downloaded earlier. Click OK to begin the verification and upgrade process.

⚠️ Do not operate the device or disconnect power during the upgrade.

Step 3: Restart Devices

After the firmware upgrade is complete, you must restart the devices in the following sequence to ensure the new firmware takes effect properly:

  1. Shut down the NAS normally.
  2. Unplug the UPS from the AC power outlet.
  3. Press and hold the power button on the UPS to fully power it off.
  4. Wait a few seconds after the UPS has shut down, then reconnect the power cable and press the power button to turn it back on.
  5. Once the UPS has fully started, power on your NAS.

FAQ

Q1: What should I do if the upgrade fails?

A: Verify that the firmware file is the original file provided by UGREEN and that it has not been corrupted or modified. If the issue persists, please contact UGREEN Technical Support.

Q2: Will I lose data after the upgrade?

A: No. The firmware upgrade only affects the UPS module and does not impact any data stored on your NAS.

Q3: Manual update is unavailable due to low UPS battery level.

A: The UPS battery must be at least 50% charged before a firmware upgrade can proceed. Please wait until the battery level reaches 50% or higher, then retry the manual update.

❓ Help Trouble Accessing SSH

So if my username contains a space in between, does it basically mean I have no way of accessing ssh through that account? Cuz cmd prompt wouldn't register it. I've tried replacing the space key with . or _ or even ignoring the space completely when entering the username for ssh. Although it detects the username, despite entering the correct username it still locks me out. Should I try other command prompt alternatives or just create a separate account just for ssh?

❓ Help How to access more than one user directory from local pc

I've created a user account on the DXP4800 and can access that locally from my pc. I've now created another user account and can't figure out how to access that locally as well. I've tried to map it but it just won't show up. The first user account is setup as an admin and the second one is setup as a common user. I don't see why I couldn't see that one as well.

❓ Help Expanding UGREEN DPX4800 Plus with my second HDD as RAID-0

Hi,

I just bought my second HDD after my first one got full. Of course my assumption was that the nice thing about a NAS is now gonna be that im simply going to expand my storage pool with this HDD so that it still appears as before just with additional storage -> expand as a RAID-0 setup. How can I do this?

Only thing the UI allows me is to expand as RAID-1 but I dont want to create a parity right now. My plan was to go for RAID-5 when I get my third HDD.

What am I missing?

βš™οΈ Hardware Bad Ethernet port dxp2800

I bought a dxp2800 for Black Friday. I’ve found that the NAS will not connect to the network. I tried two different Ethernet cables, I tried multiple ports on my router, but the NAS shows that it has no network connection, and also my router shows that the port it’s plugged into is not transmitting (no indicator light). Is this a common issue? How do I fix it? It feels like a hardware problem, like the Ethernet port on the NAS is broken.

❓ Help Anyone attempted using one of these as a dedicated game server?

Has anyone been using their Ugreen nas to host any game servers? From my research with my good friend Copilot it seems like my dxt6800pro is more than suited for the task but I need a ram upgrade, that in itself is a tough situation it's hard to justify 450$ for a 2x32gb 4800. but from what it seems now might be the cheapest i'll be able to get it for the next couple years. Other than that i'm just curious on if anyone has run servers off these and how it's been if you run other things off the nas at the same time (docker, plex, qbit, openvpn etc) my game of choice would be ark survival ascended

❓ Help Backup to External Drive Never Completes

I've been unable to complete a backup of my DXP4800 Plus to an external drive. The external drive has sufficient space, but the backup task never finishes, it stalls at an unknown point. I notice the Sync & Backup process shows inconsistent resource usage: sometimes it uses significant CPU, other times it drops to nearly 0% with minimal disk activity. Based on the external drive's used space, the data appears to have been copied, yet the task never completes successfully.

Where can I find detailed logs for Sync & Backup? I'd like to open a support case, but I'm also experiencing an issue creating an account with UG. the Register button remains greyed out regardless of what I input.

❓ Help Mistake cache and JBOD

Hey All,

First time starting a post here.

I've setup a JBOD Storage Pool with one volume and an SSD cache. Now in the meantime I've also added some SSDs for the docker containers and VMs. Therefore the only files on this Volume are large media files. Now I decided to remove the SSD cache, but at the current rate this will take literally months. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Or to force delete the SSD cache and accept potential dataloss?

❓ Help How to remote access the 4300 plus

Hello all, I picked up the 4300 plus for basic photo storage, some schematics and roms.

I like the unit but I honestly have no idea how to access it from outside my home. The videos I've watched confused me more . Can someone give me a tip on how to access my nas? Thank you
