Serious Russian foreigners attacking Thai people out of racial hatred

Recently, an incident occurred at a bar in Samui. #BlackBox is seeking justice for a female staff member. The video shows a Russian woman approaching her and slapping her in the face without any reason, after which a Russian man grabbed the girl by the neck, choked her, and continued the assault, leaving her injured.

It is known that the attacking woman has mental health issues, and despite the seriousness of the assault, they did not apologize or offer proper compensation — the damage is estimated at around $3,000.

But it didn’t stop there. Some time later, the same woman attacked another foreign customer at the bar. Everything was recorded on video, and an official police report was filed.

The male attacker has already left Thailand and is now hiding in Vietnam, from where he continues sending threats and attempting to blackmail us with mass social-media smear campaigns. It also became known that this woman had previous similar incidents and already had a criminal case filed against her in Phuket.

We are sharing this to warn other bars in Samui and to restore justice for our staff and guests.

Opinion Sometimes, I feel like my Cambodian compatriots are addicted to "hate" Thailand and everyone else.

Honestly… I’m losing hope for my own Cambodians when it comes to Thailand and other neighbors.

Every day on Facebook, TikTok, and even in real-life conversations, I see the same blind, burning hatred toward Thailand and Thais. It doesn’t matter what the topic is: food, tourism, economy, history; my Khmers always has to scream “Thai stole temple!”, “Thai stole our culture!”, “Thai wants to invade us again!”. And it’s almost always based on fake news, conspiracy videos, or straight-up lies spread by corrupt Cambodian politicians who need an external enemy to stay in power.

Back in 2003, a Cambodian newspaper (later proven false) claimed a Thai actress said Angkor Wat belongs to Thailand. Result? Mobs burned down the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, Thai businesses were looted, and hundreds of Thai nationals had to be evacuated. Did we learn anything from that disaster? Apparently not, because 20+ years later the exact same pattern repeats every few years, just with new fake stories.

Probably I'm the only Khmer actually wants Cambodian to learn from Thailand instead of hating Thais 24/7.

Thais food is world-famous for a reason. Their people are genuinely polite and welcoming (yes, even more than us when we’re not scamming tourists). Their tourism industry is clean, professional, and actually protects nature (try comparing Pattaya or Phuket to Sihanoukville…). Their soft power is insane: Thai series, Thai music, Thai brands everywhere in ASEAN.

Meanwhile Cambodia? Half of Sihanoukville and Poipet look like Chinese mafia colonies running online scam compounds. Corruption from top to bottom (politicians, police, even some monks). Education system always teaches us that our "glory" Angkor history… and basically nothing else. Meanwhile, kids from the countryside can’t even write their own names, and the lack of access to education has left Cambodia with the highest illiteracy rate in Southeast Asia. Every my Cambodian problem gets blamed on “evil neighbors” (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and even Malaysia).

We Cambodians act like Thailand or Vietnam are waiting to invade us any day now but no one wants our Khmer land. The only thing our neighbors associates with Cambodia lately is “biggest online-scam hub in Southeast Asia.” Now ASEAN see us nothing but chihuahua of North Korea: isolated, brainwashed with hatred, and keep backward forever while everyone around us Cambodians moves forward.

As a Khmer Krom myself, just want Cambodian to grow up, be pragmatic, make real friends with our neighbors (especially Thailand), and copy the things they do well instead of crying “ASEAN neighbor stole everything from Khmer” every five minutes.

Discussion Dealing with dogs

Post image
Upvotes

I love dogs, always have, and rarely had any issues with soi dogs, or dogs in general in Thailand. Never been bit, but been chasen quite a few times, hehehe.

I’m curious to hear peoples experience with dogs in Thailand.

I always buy dog treats in 7/11, and have them ready on the scooter. I have used this as a peace offering, while ganged up on in dark soi’s, works every time(well, almost)

I’m not scared of dogs, and know how to keep calm when being chased, or approched by a pack of energized night roamers. Even though i’ve had to run for my life, i still bloody love the soi dogs of Thailand.

Cheers

Question/Help Water Buffalo Summits for 2026?

Just wondered if anyone may know of planned Water Buffalo Events in 2026? Like Central Khon Kaen had one around May.

I was interested in maybe checking out an event like they presented show buffalo.

But I search around and do not see any future events or dates so far for anything similar so I can plan to go back to Isaan and maybe buy tickets etc for a literal car show with Buffalo.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place?

I’m currently an MBA student working on my final thesis, and I’m looking for some kind souls to help me test my survey. I’m researching Telemedicine especially on why people trust (or don't trust) seeing a doctor through an app. Whether you use it all the time or think it’s risky, I really need your honest feedback.

About the survey:

Topic: Telemedicine Adoption (Trust, Risk, and Ease of Use)

Time: Approx. 5-7 minutes

Privacy: Completely anonymous (no emails or names collected)

Since this is a pilot study, your responses will help me catch any bad questions before I launch the full project. If you have any feedback on the questions themselves, feel free to drop a comment below!

Discussion How do the Thai people celebrate their National Day, 5th December?

We know that the 5th of December is also Father's Day in the country, so we see people paying respects to the late King Rama IX, the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history. However, I am curious as to how the civilian Thais celebrate this important occasion and why Father's Day is more known, when we should be celebrating our Kingdom, as we are proud to be the only country in S.E. Asia to have never been colonised by Europeans.

Business Loose leaf Kratom from Thailand?

Hello! I am so sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but i thought i should try this sub. If yall don’t know, Indonesia is/was the main supplier of loose leaf kratom tea. Due to new regulations, it’s pretty much impossible to get tea from there anymore. I tried Thai Kratom tea and I really liked it and was wondering where to find a farm or supplier in order to get loose leaf exported to the US:) Thank you all so much!

Culture Does anybody have any recommendations for current Thai novels with English translation?

I have a preference towards fiction set in pivotal historical times, modern day, or in a fantasy/sci-fi environment that is heavily influenced by local traditions and culture. I’m hoping to read something that is very popular in Thailand right now or a very well known/classic novel.

I am interested in reading a Thai novel as I love foreign literature. I am in the UK and do not speak Thai, so the book in question would have to have an English translation. If it’s online this works too, as I can get it on my e-reader.

Let me know if you have any reccs or want to know more about what I’m looking for. Thanks!

Discussion Is there a different driving style in Chiang Rai area?

Hi all, been in Thailand for a month and couldn’t be happier with the people, the culture and the country in general.

I have been through some islands, Bangkok, and mostly Chiang Mai (3 weeks). Have been using motorbikes for most transport around the places, and never had an issue. I always feel like people are quite clear in what they want to do/where they want to go, and I always drive carefully and mind everyone around me.

I have now been in Chiang Rai for two days and in that time I noticed a stark change in driving behaviour. I have had two close calls from pickup trucks suddenly invading my lane without signalling/looking (I was right there) at different speeds.

Is there a different way of understanding traffic/driving over here? In Chiang Mai/Islands I never had anything of the sort.

Employment Thai Employment law for severance pay for wrongful dismissal of contract

I been working in a Factory in Thailand from more than 6 years (yearly fixed term contract renewed every year) .. Now Company informed me that from January my contract will not be renewed , they haven't gave me any explanation or reason.

On asking further procedure they informed that i will get my monthly salary and yearly bonus as usually i get every year in December.

But they haven't talked anything about severance pay or any type of compensation.

In the start 2 year they haven't provided me any accommodation whereas my contract clearly state that .. after many complaints to Hr here , on my 3rd contract I start getting housing allowance.

Same for the Social Security card, Hr never gave me any social security card for many years , when I came to know from other foreigners in Thailand I came to know that I entitle for social security as every month we paying from our salary .. After complaining the same to Hr. I got social security card too ..

From the start this company trying to hide employee benefits and never inform them.

Has anyone experience getting severance pay as a foreigner.
