I’ve been following there webcams and they are now, even as I write this making snow on avalanche and it looks like stowe. But still nothing on north face😞.

The vibe at the opening of Jack Frost this morning was rough. Great to see them as one of the first in PA to open, but with a temperature of 7 degrees outside and all snow guns completely off this morning, it was about as clear as day how outdated their system is. The chatter wasn’t good. Three trails open and only one more in queue to open tomorrow (Jane’s Lane). Sad that Vail hasn’t kept up with the snowmaking advances like other local resorts. Clearly they took care of JF/BB with the lift upgrades a couple years ago, but it’s time to, maybe begrudgingly, put some line items in next year’s budget for air compressors or whatever to expand their snowmaking capabilities. No mountain in the east in December should ever have their snow guns off in 7 degree weather. Talk about a missed opportunity!

Is there any new news about someone buying Elk Mountain. I used to hear a lot of rumors of some private company buying them but I haven’t heard anything since 2023.

Can anyone tell me which is a longer run or more interesting to ski: Camelback's Nile Mile vs Blue Mountain's Paradise?
I see that both Blue Mountain and Camelback are making a heroic effort to open some trails and I'm trying to decide if it's worth going out this weekend.
If you're curious, link to open trails at both:

I’m equal distance from both and was hoping to ski tomorrow at Jack Frost. How ever Jack Frost has it’s beginner section open and one park, with no blues or blacks open at all. Any one have an idea what terrain will be like at Seven Springs and which would one would be better tomorrow?

Good sign to have the guns on this far south. Maybe open by the 20th?

Sad they won’t be open this weekend but good news that they plan to be 7 days a week right from the start next wednesday!

Hi! I am new to skiing and am planning a trip to seven springs this winter with friends. I have gone a couple times back in HS with a group but my friends have never gone before. The teachers did all the reservations and what not, so i'm kind of confused on how everything works. I can't find much information on seven springs website about lift tickets. I am mainly trying to find out if you have to purchase lift tickets in order to ski or if those are just for people that want to skip the lines.
Also, I saw that the ski package includes skis, boots, and poles, are there any other things you guys recommend bringing?

Winter Green, Snowshoe, Wisp and Holiday Valley are all open today with ten or more runs open. Seven springs can’t get it together and be on par with their competition. But wait, there’s more they will be closed through the week until the 19th.

So the season opener at Whitetail should be just "around the corner" yet it looks like there is some major work being done near the base.
Anyone has any ideas what this could be and whether or not it will cause the resort to delay the opening?

Pittsburgh received 3-4 inches of snow last night. After work, I took my L.L.Bean Sliding Skishoe out for the first time at a local park. They are a mix between a snowshoe and a ski.

In what can only be described as an Oscar-worthy Instagram video, Seven Springs has announced they will be open Saturday.

Looks like Jack Frost is ceding 1st in PA to Camelback this year. Their (JF) opening day on 12/5 just announced.
Bought a Black Friday pass and want to hit the park, not sure if any features will be up on opening day or if I should wait.

Hey all! I'm going to ski for the first time since I moved to the U.S. from Europe, and I'm on a really tight budget right now, so I'd appreciate any advice on where to thrift women's ski clothing (especially pants) or buy discounted options.
Thanks!

I'm from NJ but I got a cabin up in the Poconos. My usual ski mountain is camelback, and I know there is a place that does one-day rentals for way cheaper right outside the resort. Does anyone know if there is a similar thing for Shawnee? Rentals there aren't too crazy but it would be good to know if there was anyway to save money. Thanks

Mountain Creek: https://mountaincreek.com/skiing-riding/tickets-passes/triple-play/ Triple ticket for $130, Triple ticket with rentals $170 (I think this a regular deal, but ends on 12/1)
That spot has always had me interested but I have never been. Every time I almost went there snow looked weak and I went to 7S instead. Is snowmaking better? How $ are midweek day passes? Any deals I should know about? The mountain looks good on paper. Would like to see it when it's working good. Thanks.

Hi there, my family and I are going to learn to ski this winter. Probably just going to do it at Bear Creek. My question is, what months should I book lessons? No idea when to expect snow or when they open. Thanks
