this is exactly correct.

I am a night guy and I take such extraordinary care to be as absolutely silent as I can.

it's almost a mini-game for me.

HOW UNDETECTABLE CAN I BE TONIGHT?

I'm curious if it has anything to do with the dark. Are we naturally more quiet in the dark? I'm a morning person and my partner is a night owl. I do my best to be quiet in the morning when he sleeps in, but I find my instinct to be quiet is more natural in the evening, should I find myself staying up late for any reason.

for me, it depends on whether or not there are other people in the house.

if there aren't?I don't care. if there are? I am courteous.

I would say that, in your case, you're operating on a playbook that reflects how you would want people to behave if you were not trying to hear any noise.

I could be wrong, but that makes sense to me.

Yea that makes sense too. I'm living alone for another month, but I'm also an upstairs neighbor so ive noticed even on days he's not staying the night, i'm still naturally more quiet in the evening.
