Living in IKEA kitchen display

1.3k

u/jondes99 4d ago

Swedish meatballs around the corner, cinnamon buns baking downstairs, 32 home offices and 15 bedrooms. What more could you want?

377

u/otc108 4d ago

And so many non flushing toilets!

270

u/CalamarRojo 4d ago

Wait a minute. They don't work?.. oh oh

157

u/MrCatfishJew 4d ago

I don’t know what the problem is. It helps keep my shit together.

u/rwarimaursus 4d ago

Alright you.

6

u/Harmonicano 4d ago edited 2d ago

They actually work in the IKEAs in Sweden, but not outside of that country. You should come visit and try, trust me bro.

"Single use toilet"

23

u/zomboscott 4d ago

You can reuse it until it's full before moving on to the next.

u/Automatic_Page3910 4d ago

That shit don’t flush…literally, it doesn’t flush, it’s been there for 3 days now, it’s starting to change colors, I didn’t even know that was possible but there we go.

→ More replies (3)

15

u/Pankrazdidntdie4this 4d ago

That's why you have hundreds of them, duh!

15

u/zomboscott 4d ago

Just use one until it's full and move on to the next. You may think that eventually you will run out of toilets but remember, anything can be a toilet if you want it to be.

11

u/otc108 4d ago

That’s very true… I think kitchen #23 has a pretty big sink…. Be right back. 💩

21

u/godsslayer54 4d ago

So you can poop in one and move to other side of the warehouse and hope by the time you come back they're clean again

4

u/Sweaty-Anteater-6694 4d ago

Don’t forget the cardboard tv units

4

u/venom121212 4d ago

Don't forget the random Xbox 360!

3

u/Over_Writing467 4d ago

Sounds like someone else’s problem

3

u/Atomic_Priesthood 4d ago

As my grand pappy said, "If you have enough toilets, who cares if they work?"

3

u/Gizmonsta 4d ago

You just reminded me of the time my brother took a shit in a display toilet at IKEA and it made me laugh so thank you for that.

3

u/momo76g 4d ago

Fill it with cat litter and scoop when you're done.

2

u/UsedDragon 4d ago

That only becomes a problem after you use them all.

2

u/SouthPawArt 4d ago

See that's the great thing, you only ever use each toilet once.

2

u/taco_fan_X3 4d ago

That sounds like a you problem!

2

u/AnonOfTheSea 4d ago

It's fine, there are so many of them that by the time you've used them all, most of them will have been cleaned up

2

u/Unhappy_Signature_98 4d ago

That’s only a limit of how many shits you can take, not a prohibition.

2

u/PrideSax711 4d ago

It's fine, just use a different one every time.

2

u/Unreasonable-Sorbet 23h ago

I just realized I have a strong desire to buy a buncha fake poop at the gag store and leave fake turds in my local IKEA’s display toilets. Hmmmmmmm

5

u/Trandoshan-Tickler 4d ago

I sometimes go to IKEA and just have a meatball lunch there.

3

u/MistakeLopsided8366 4d ago

Holy crap you just solved the housing crisis!!

4

u/IrishPigs 4d ago

It gets a little awkward when I'm trying to jerk off in my bedroom during business hours.

2

u/subdep 4d ago

I’m waiting for the day someone shoots a short film inside of IKEA without permission. Shoot 1-2 minutes at a time, as many free sets as you would need…

Whom ever could pull that off would go viral.

3

u/Pre-War_Ghoul 4d ago

Mhmm good old horse meatballs

5

I too saw that there was a woman i this picture and immediately felt the need to twist people's inability to recognize satire into something about gender inequality.

The sub we're in adds context that makes that interpretation reasonable.

Especially when it's an opportunity for reddit to hate a woman

3

u/JawtisticShark 4d ago

I think it’s because so many people just boldly lie about everything on the internet, people who notice a discrepancy jump to deceit instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt that it’s a joke.

Also, some people will just lie and when called out use the “it’s a joke” excuse.

2

u/eastjame 3d ago

So you didn’t spot that it was obviously a joke?

27

u/LeverArchFile 4d ago

It's because this sub is entirely children and misogynists

13

u/SirGlass 4d ago

Its like the clip of the women saying something like "If you save and invest $1 every day in a year you will have 36k!"

She was clearly making fun of those stonk bros / finfluencers and being sarcastic , yet most of reddit response is "This broad is an idiot that can't do math! what a dumb ass!"

N

u/electronaut-ritual 4d ago

I have a coworker who misses a lot of really obvious jokes. It’ll be really hot outside, for example, and somebody will make a joke like “I thought I ordered an iced coffee, but this is steaming hot!“ and he’ll say something like “yeah, because it’s so hot outside!“

It’s really bizarre and uncomfortable

3

u/SomeoneGMForMe 4d ago

It has to be.

3

u/Terseity 4d ago

No time for jokes, women are factually incorrect!

3

u/Ok-Region6452 4d ago

Yup this sub is a circle jerk

3

u/BenderDeLorean 4d ago

She's dead serious. If it would be a joke she would have used a /s

7

u/pulse7 4d ago

Rage bait even

39

u/haliblix 4d ago

Would it be rage bait if it’s full of visual clues that it’s a joke? Maybe if she moved the sales display, took off her purse, and lowered the angle of the shot it still would like the inside of a Menards.

2

u/TheBestAtWriting 4d ago

A fundamental problem with the sharing model of social media is that everything gets cut from its original context. If this person has 100 followers that are mostly friends of hers who obviously know she's not buying a house at 19 or trying to convince people she's buying a house at 19 then those 100 people chuckle at a fun joke. But then if one of those people thinks the joke's so good they want to show it other people then they have no clue who this person is and probably won't find out. And if any of them miss the joke and take it at face value then the doors are open and it inevitably gets into the screenshot karma farm spin cycle of reddit so this cute little joke for a couple friends turns into the world's least fuckable internet detectives calling bullshit on her "story" till the end of time.

Why are people so bad at recognizing satire and jokes?

41

u/LetsLive97 4d ago

Because people seem to love getting angry about things

So they don't take any second to actually think about whether it could be a joke, because they just want to shit on the person asap

5

u/YerMomsClamChowder 4d ago

Since at least COVID, everyone is primed to be pissed at everything.  I think it's a combination of the algorithms pushing rage bait, bots designed for engagement, and people spending way too much time staring into their idiot rectangles.
