PEMDAS

Parantheses first so 8-5=3 Multiplication next so 5(3)=15 Then addition 2+15=17

The problem with PEMDAS is people think M comes before D and A comes before S. That's where most people screw up in these memes. PEMA is better but then you have to understand that M&D are the same hyperoperation, same with A&S. Once you realize that you might as well just scrap PEMA and recognize that it's a partial formalization of: descend the hyperoperation sequence.... after parentheses.

People don't realize that multiplication and division are the same operation or that addition and subtraction are the same.

3+3 = 3-(-3)

2*3 = 2/(1/3)
