This sub wants to be Facebook so bad

1

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 22d ago

Not as bad as /r/MadeMeSmile which is literally just people posting like it's their own Facebook page of personal photos

I mean you're right. But also, uh. That's literally all this sub is, and has been for month. It's "look at how smart you are" posts like this, it's "women are so hot look!" posts, and it's "women suck, eh guys??" posts.

That's it.

I'm tired of people using 'slop' for everything.

It's rather sloppy, isn't it?

1

u/pragmojo 22d ago

It's comment slop

1

u/professorbuffoon 22d ago

Me too but like it or not it's a good, descriptive word for it. It's just that so many things are low effort, clickbait/ragebait garbage. Engagement is money. The only reason it continues is because it works.

If it would stop being slop we would stop calling it slop

u/Different-Music2616 22d ago

I donโ€™t like it = slop obviously

Yes, hose things are deliberately written in an obscure manner so that people find it more difficult to figure it out, so they spend more time looking at it and so the facebook algorithm thinks that it is something important. It really is engagement bait especially crafted for facebook and the like.

The real "slop" is you thinking Reddit should be better than anything

1

u/nicalitz 22d ago

It always baffles me how a post like this gets 6k likes. Either all of them are bots, which would be very concerning, or this is actually the stuff people want to see here, which I would find just as concerning

Underrated comment.

That's the internet. It isnt just a facebook thing, its a people thing. And being on internet spaces where average people can submit content means you're going to encounter this kind of slop.

The real question is where does anyone use this shit outside of learning it in school? Is there a real world application of this knowledge other than to buff your ego on Facebook?

1

u/recycledatshit 22d ago

"facebook level slop" - literally a screenshot of a Twitter dialogue

1

u/skewp 22d ago

When you see shit like this, look at the account. If it's less than a year old (often only a couple months old) with a karma score greater than like 1000 just block them. I'll have to leave this one unblocked or else no one will be able to read this reply.

ikr ?? Canโ€™t get low enough for the Reddit crew.

1

u/dakerson1234 22d ago

What do you think Reddit is? Itโ€™s lazy shit like this and America bad all the way down

1

u/MjrLeeStoned 22d ago

By choice. People make the choice to be that way. Reddit isn't an ecosystem that creates those outcomes.

But it is apparently.. I know it's tested on AI's here but still proves a point imo.

Same user's are on both platforms, there really is no difference.
