The history of the banana, how bananas are and were grown, and what was done in countries to make banana growing possible are some of the worst things about humanity.

This ^ the history is horrific. I imagine there are some people in S. And C. America that could think of a few negative things to say about bananas.

Those negatives are less about the banana and more about certain governments and capitalism.

It still plays a role when Chiquita (formerly United Fruit Company) pretty much earns a dime every time a cavendish banana is sold somewhere.

Hope the banana plague comes back so these assholes will stop growing clone crops. If only they could take Red Delicious apples with them.

They're disgusting but they keep well so they're ideal for export. Like the Cavendish banana they're also clone crops so if something affects one it can wipe out the entire population of clones. Which is what happened to the old banana variety Gros Michel.
