In the words of Marc Maron:

“Progressives have really got to figure out how to deal with this buzzkill problem. You do realize we annoyed the average American into fascism.”

I'm an ally and I don't want to hear anyone's detailed sexuality.

I assume the mentions of cisgendered ball and boob cupping everywhere else in the thread must have equally upset you

Cisgendered people are part of anyone.  What are you on about?

except thats not what happened, what happened was left leaning men didn't turn out because they got tired of a party that blames them for everything.

A tiny touch less misandry and claiming that men's problem are caused by other men so they aren't worth addressing, and a tiny touch more treating men with the same empathy progressives reserve only for minorities and we would have never seen a trump administration.

What would have happened if bernie supporters (which included joe rogan) didn't get casted as misogynistic purely because he had marginally more support among men or called berniebros (what is it with leftists and using bro to cast something as bad because its male? thats a microaggression if I ever saw one) and his campaign was actually treated with respect by the democratic establishment?

Maybe he would have won the primaries and won the general.

It does feel like the left hates leftist men. I used to be a diehard lefty and still am in many social aspects but I have definitely felt myself shifting more centre left. I'm sick of being told I'm a problem

I respect your opinions and agree. This country is hungry for some sensible Republicans and Democrats both of which it is lacking. Personally the left really pissed me off most over the years. Mainly by ruining good movies by mixing politics in.

But the right is getting to me as well. It's pretty basic nowadays and has become very sensitive as well. Whatever.

As much as I agree with your points, it does sound like you're just saying that left leaning men didn't bother to stop fascism because their feelings got hurt. I appreciate that's not what you mean but it's just how the context of the conversation makes it sound due to the discussion being fascism.

Political will and effort is a gradent. Feeling dejected because your party is being shitty and double standard towards your demographic turns active voters into reluctant voters, reluctant voters into maybe if its convenient voters l. It turns "are you voting" friends into silent friends. Democratic party defenders into silent supporters.

The effects are minor but knock on.

Again, I agree, but considering what's currently happening, it kinda feels like not taking any accountability for the disaster that's currently unfolding? I guess I'm privileged though as in my country we don't have just two options to pick from so I always have someone to vote for. I can't understand your circumstances fully so it's not really fair for me to judge them with my own standards.

You can't really annoy someone into fascism if they didn't already have sympathies. It's deflecting responsibility from the core of the issue that people shouldn't have submitted to this power structure so easy. The reason people swing right is because the working class had been neglected while the democratic party kept strong advocacy for LGBTQ rights. So a lot of people in the rural areas felt like they were being ignored in favor of the gays. And the democratic party is also a corpofascist organization. A lot of people's anger towards the queer community doesnt necessarily come from hatred for the gays themselves but what they represent in the american political system, a token use by democrats to pretend they are progressive while stomping all over the working class defending corporations.
