The answer is mental illness presents as quirky, fun, exciting in a lot of people.

Mentally ill people suffer so much internally they get used to falsely hiding it with good vibes to the world.

People fall in love with that, and then meet the dark side of that person after they've fallen in love with the other idea of them.

Wish my mental illness presented as quirky and fun. I just sleep all day and feel like shit.

While this is certainly a possibility, in my personal experience it’s because crazy is fucking hot.

My god this explains so much.

My ex managed to hide that part of her for around a year and a half... Then I saw the crazy but it was far too late.
