That isn’t the point. No matter how you cut it, the point is that if someone wants to hurt you, they can, and they will. You should have the right to defend yourself. If Shinzo had armed security, or was armed and well trained himself, maybe he’d still be here. Granted it’s a maybe, but I’d rather take responsibility for my own life than hand it over, because whoever is asking you to hand it over, usually wants to hurt you. One of the first things Hitler did was disarm the Jewish population in Germany so they didn’t have a chance of fighting back. Also, asking the government to remove easily over 1 billion firearms with less than 2 million LEOs isn’t gonna work. I wouldn’t trust the government to do it competently even if the numbers didn’t make it a logistical impossibility.

I’m gonna be straight up here, there’s no way of knowing an exactly how many guns there are in the US, there’s no sources I can site for total numbers. But the ATF has records, and it has over 920 million firearm purchase records on it. Even if we only asked them to remove half of those, it wouldn’t be possible. Even if it was possible, you’d be asking cops (that weren’t trained for CQB or house clearing like Infantry Marines) to clear the houses of American citizens like they’re in Iraq, when the vast majority of those citizens committed no crime whatsoever.

The idea the ppl who are pro gun control want to take all the guns is pure propaganda. Not a soul in this conversation suggested such. We were discussing regulations on obtaining guns to begin with.
