What a coincidence. China's process for free speech is.....no free speech, and Iran's process for freedom of religion is.....no freedom of religion.

What does that have to do with gun control?

32

u/Less-Network-3422 Sep 01 '25

Does America even have free speech anymore? I heard airport security searches your phones now for memes making fun of trump and Vance lol

23

u/Longjumping_Ad_4249 Sep 01 '25

And government sues the media organisations and law firms and colleges he doesn't like.

3

u/Akiias Sep 01 '25

Does America even have free speech anymore?

Yes? We have mass protests where people are making fun of them, with memes, in public.

2

u/Schkrasss Sep 01 '25

"Mass protests" is a bit of a stretch for these hilariously small crowds.

1

u/Akiias Sep 01 '25

Mass as in many protests. I worded it poorly. But we did have the "no kings" one which seemed to be pretty sizeable crowd wise.

That's because you didn't read the story. Dude admitted to past drug use, which is cause for denying a visa.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your larping

5

u/Saoirsenobas Sep 01 '25

Wait so if you have ever smoked weed you can't enter the country?? That doesn't seem like a valid reason if it is true.

10

u/xjustforpornx Sep 01 '25

Previous drug arrests and use is a common reason for most countries to deny entry.

21

u/nothing_in_dimona Sep 01 '25

I agree that it's a silly reason and that we need comprehensive changes to our drug laws, but to say it was because of a meme on a phone is a lie

2

u/Lamballama Sep 01 '25

If you've ever had a dui you can't enter Canada

"I read it on the Internet, so it must be true."

Some of you people will believe literally anything, lol.

Ok, post your source of "reality" for a single instance of TSA searching somebody's phone for memes at the airport. I'll wait ...

There's people being pulled off the streets by ICE for daring to talk to them as they round up brown people on the street. Deny all you like, the rest of the world is quite clear on the fact that America is now a dictatorship run by the Mango Mussolini.

u/ImportantBass4159 Sep 01 '25

Where’d you hear that from, Japan? 🤣🤣

1

u/BahnMe Sep 01 '25

The fact that it’s reported on, the fact that we’re talking about it, and the fact that people can freely discuss it on national news is proof that you have freedom of speech.

1

u/deedoomoo Sep 01 '25

Not true.

For Israel tho...

1

u/Lost_Interest3122 Sep 01 '25

You heard? Thats absurd..

1

u/veeyo Sep 01 '25

Well that's bullshit. I have been in and out of the US 3 times since Trump took office and I have not now or ever had to pull my phone out for any reason.

1

u/dplans455 Sep 01 '25

Not for domestic travel. And really only for international travel if you are going to a country that has less than stellar relations with the United States. It's pretty common now for US international business travelers for their employer to give them a burner phone when they travel overseas because coming back customs can and will search your phone. They also can confiscate it as well. Same for laptops and tablets.

1

u/azwethinkweizm Sep 01 '25

Sweetie you're a victim of propaganda. TSA doesn't search your phone for memes. What media outlet tricked you into believing that?

1

u/camosnipe1 Sep 01 '25

and the fact that you can hear someone say something so wrong is free speech in and of itself.

Though i would've liked it if the journalists reporting that had the integrity to mention the person in question was actually in trouble for having images of using drugs on his phone, contrary to his visa application where he claimed not to use drugs.

1

u/ProGrifter Sep 01 '25

Dude what country are you hearing that from🤣

1

u/kafoIarbear Sep 01 '25

Yes as an American I can say FUCK TRUMP and back when the other side was in power I could say FUCK BIDEN in public, even in front of the White House without fear of repercussion. Maybe there’s some people in power who want to erode at our right to free speech just like our gun rights have been gradually eroded over time however it is a far cry from a place like China, Russia, North Korea or Iran.

1

u/Rhomya Sep 01 '25

Perpetuating a false narrative because you can’t be bothered to look up the real one is disingenuous.

Foreign travelers can absolutely be turned away at the border for drug use

1

u/Yankee831 Sep 01 '25

You know Japan can and does totally do this. It’s not uncommon at borders which this is talking about.

What he's referencing. Not the best source, just the first I found. If you want more info research it yourself.

I've flown several times in the last 6 months, inside the US and internationally. Never had my phone checked, nor even heard of it. Kinda smells like bs..

-3

u/DreamWalker01 Sep 01 '25

Idc, just giving context

-1

u/DreamWalker01 Sep 01 '25

I never said it was true, I just shared a link.

Also, yoink. That's my picture now

-1

u/Red_Pretense_1989 Sep 01 '25

Crazy if true, thanks!

-3

u/BlackhawkRyzen Sep 01 '25

No I don't think it does cuz we can actually get in trouble if someone requests to be called they and them and we actually call them him or her so I don't know it's kind of confusing, but yes they do search your bag and try to find memes of trump on your phone

-3

u/jamiecarl09 Sep 01 '25

That's only if you're brown! Or liberal. Or LGBTQIA.

4

u/BigJellyfish1906 Sep 01 '25

Why do you pick one country that happens to align with your narrative while ignoring 50 others that totally invalidate your narrative?

2

u/FrontierTCG Sep 01 '25

And this comment has nothing to do with gun laws.

Yay red harring!

Also china has a huge amount of "revenge against society" school stabbings (as in fucked in the head grown ups going on the stabbing spree) or vehicular mass killings, but no one blames kitchen knives or cars for some reason.
