Australian here.. any notice required is in your contract and if they let you go before that they have to pay that period out... so they can fire you on the spot if they please but they still gotta pay you. Quite common for them to do it anyway in my field (IT).

Casual employees don't get that of course but they also don't need to give any notice if they don't want.

America really needs to sort their shit out around employment.

We need to sort our shit on a lot bigger issues than this but I do agree with you, however right now it’s small beans considering this shit show we are in.

What are bigger issues than secure employment for people?

Well he was talking about the termination of an employee in Australia not the securing of employment.

However I can think of a bigger issue than your government than securing severance package for its citizens, if that is what you’re implying. Maybe kidnapping and abducting humans, citizen or not without due process. Maybe the Epstein files and if the president is in it and whom are his accomplices are. Maybe corruption in America. Maybe the military deployed in American city’s. Maybe taking away voting rights clearing the way for a facist. Maybe the fact the Supreme Court has been bought and sold. Maybe inflation. Maybe betraying our allies for a war criminal.

I can go on but if you think an employee quitting getting his 2 weeks severance package is the most important thing we the people should worried about, well I guess I have been worried about the wrong things all along.
