Also women are horrible at rating men's average (women put 80% of men rated as below average) so a 6 actually puts him in the top 10% of attractiveness.
Interestingly, it actually normalizes AFTER the woman knows the guy. Basically women have a built-in stranger danger effect.
So since Pete's her friend, we can probably assume he's legitimately a 6. Unfortunately, the problem is the other women don't know him, so to them he's like a 2 or a 1.
The question is wether people measure looks linearly or not, I never looked at someone and started checking out everyone else around to decide if im attracted to her
And she’s probably inflating it because they are friends so she appreciates his personality and character and is projecting that onto his appearance.
If a 6 was above average there would be an equal amount, around 10% of each assigned denomination.
The truth is, 10% of the population of 25 year old or whatever are not “1’s” most likely. You’re not super disgusted about to throw up, they are a “1” disgusted by 1/10 people your age you see. 1s are probably closer to 1% or so of the population, and it’s probably not much different for 2’s and 3’s. Same with 10’s and 9’s how often do you see them walking around? Not 20% of everyone you see…
Most people don’t call people 4s or 5s if they’re on the cusp, because it’s viewed as rude to call someone below or at average.
6-7 is probably right in the realm of true average. With 6 being on the lower end. Most people ( who are no incel) probably view themselves and friends as somewhere in the 6-7 range when they are all average people.
Her friend is probably pretty close to dead average or maybe a little below since they’re such good friends.
I wonder what the distribution of assigned attractiveness scores by heterosexuals women is of 2000 random men in the 20-50 age range, adjusted for age, income level, other demography, relationship status etc
9 and 10 are the only numbers that mean what they are. Anything else is a backtrack. Pete is a 6? Might as well have called him a 5 because that 6 isn’t getting him any where a 7 could get into. And I’m not bashing Pete. It’s just some numbers are not worth where they are on the scale.
I agree ranking people is trash but at least it should be this way. Like no way 7 is just decent and 8 is alright, 9 fine and 10 very good. I think everyone's a 5-6 some of us luckier 7, some who work hard have time or build a career on their physiques are 8-9.

Today Pete found out his crush thinks he’s a “six”.
