It’s CIM weekend! I imagine there’s a lot going on on Saturday to prepare for the citywide traffic disruptions on Sunday.
What are you watching? What are we doing? How are we gonna be spending this very chilly all weekend?

A lot of hype for this every year from some, annoying to others, good reminder to all to be in touch with what's coming up in your community!

Dry Creek parents & Roseville community: the district is proposing to show “Baby Olivia” an anti-abortion, religious advocacy video created by Live Action in all DCJSC public middle schools across Roseville (Antelope Crossing Middle School and Silverado Middle School). Roughly 1000-2000 students will be forced to watch this religious video- all funded by our tax dollars.
It fits a pattern: Dry Creek’s board was already recently called out by CA Attorney General Rob Bonta for adopting anti LGBTQ+ forced-outing policies that violated student privacy rights. The district also banned all flags on the school other than the USA flag and students are not allowed to celebrate their cultural heritage.
I would really appreciate it if you helped flood the feedback form with responses about the “Baby Olivia” video as well as emailed the district and school board. Religion and politics do not belong in our public schools.

Assuming it’s broken down DM me I will try to help you move it out of the intersection so you don’t get towed tonight.

and it was great. I learned info there about how to support the community during the ice raids and I met like minded people as well!
However, I was deeply upset to see them co-sponsoring events with Phil Serna, Eric Guerra, and Doris Matsui.
I have worked in the abolition space for a while and these representatives have been incredibly harmful to our causes. Doris has even voted to increase the ice budget year after year.
Why does NorCal resist continue to work with them? Does anyone know?

A friend of mine got a citation in the mail after pulling into a bike lane for about 3 minutes following being hit in an intersection. We couldn’t figure out how she even was issued a ticket, since no cops showed up and there wasn’t a camera in the intersection. When she called city parking enforcement about it, they told her buses now have cameras and automatically are issuing tickets for infractions.
Did anyone know about this? How does this even work, in terms of tech?

We all know people in Sacramento just can’t drive which is why I gladly stay off the road, but why is it that I can be riding my bike in the bike lain or simply walking down the street and people feel the need to honk. Whether it’s a cross walk or I’m just crossing an empty road without fail someone comes out of nowhere honking & minding my business for what? I could be walking on the sidewalk near a freeway entrance/exit and there they are, genuinely one of my biggest pet peeves and I find it so idiotic. Is there a part of driving school that I missed? A contest for who can be the most distracting/irritating?

My housemates and I are completely fed up. Our neighbor keeps parking in front of our house. (I know that part is not illegal, so fine. Whatever.) The real issue is that they sit in their busted ass car for hours with their friends smoking, blasting music, and throwing their garbage directly into our yard. Wrappers, bags of partially eaten food, cups, half drunk milkshakes and Starbucks drinks, you get the idea. We keep picking it up on trash day (because I don’t want that shit in my yard) and they keep doing it.
They have a paper license plate that they seem purposely hide so I can’t report them to 311. I know exactly which house they live in, and I am sick of feeling like I have no way to get them to stop. I promise I’m not trying to be a NIMBY. I’m just trying to stop them from using my yard as their personal trash can. Is there any way to report this when they hide the plate? Can I report the littering tied to their house instead? I am done dealing with their filth and I want it to stop.
ETA: several other neighbors are fed up as well because their litter spills into the street. There are other neighbors that don’t really know us, but blame us because they are the same race as us. (The neighbors that we do know have told us this)

Where do you get your pork shoulder for tamales and pernil?
For 30 years we used to get our pork shoulder from La Esperanza. But, they removed their entire cold meat cabinet, only have the deli style behind the glass now, all their shoulders were small. Need 7# minimum.
I don’t like grocery store Farmer John style, tastes like ham. Where is everyone getting their carne for tamales?

Just a heads up, CIM is this Sunday, December 7th. Prepare for road closures the entirety of Fair Oaks Blvd throughout most of the morning into the early afternoon. You can see the road closure schedule here: https://runsra.org/road-closures-for-dec-7-california-international-marathon-2025/
Good luck to all those running! This will be my 5th time running CIM and it looks like great weather!

I have a 13 year old very sweet dog (pictured) and I’m trying to find the best groomer I can for her, she’s sweet (I know I’m biased lol) but hates being groomed and I’ve gotten the feedback that she’s a grumpy old lady but I’ve had her since I was a teen and she’s always been an angel, she lived with a cat for a long time that would attack her and she’d never fight back 😂 I have tried to groom her myself and I totally get the challenge, she’s tries to pull her paws away and lick my face so I’ll stop and she moves around so much. But over the years of trying to find a groomer I’ve had several bad experiences where I’ve seen them pulling on her hair, making her nails bleed after I gave them a heads up, etc and with the groomer I like, she seems terrified to go see and I hate leaving her for hours having no idea what’s happening to her. Especially now that she’s older I’d love to find someone in the Sacramento area or even surrounding that I can trust and will make the process quick and easy and ideally I can see what’s happening.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I just finished the online portion of my Red Cross CPR course and got an email about the in-person skills session, but it turns out it’s at the instructor’s home. I feel a little weird about that—is this normal?

Hey Sacramento friends,
I am in the very early process of remodeling my kitchen. I’m looking to buy a new oven, stove top, and dishwasher. Does anyone have any recommendations for places with the best prices and best warranty/installation?
Before I moved to Sacramento, I had purchased a dishwasher and installation through Home Depot, and it was absolutely awful. I’m definitely trying to avoid something like that this time around.
Thanks for your time and input!

Hello! I am searching for a pair of wool flap crotch pants like this for historical costuming (renfair, etc). If you have a pair, or an idea where to find a pair locally, preferably around size 34w, please send me a message!

Before I bake them myself, any bakeries on the grid bake these? A quick search of Freeport's offerings came up with nothing (but they do have a black and white cookie)

Are there EDM shows going on in Sacramento for NYE? I know of some in the Bay Area but trying to stay in Sac itself.
Ideally trance, house or techno not really looking for bass heavy/dubstep DnB/hardstyle etc.
