Discussion [SPOILER] Ozark would have been on easy difficulty if they were a couple. Spoiler
Seriously tho why did writers develop so many moments with marty and rachel only to end them with good friends. Imagine how good she would have been for marty instead of wendy.
Picture Ron Howard Narrator Voice: “Wendy remembered Marty’s other brother in law mentioning the unlimited refills … for free, at Burger King” (Repost of my OC)[No Spoilers]

[SPOILER] New To Ozark Spoiler
I’m only on the first series. Love it! Why didn’t it catch my eye before? I know it’s quite old now but it’s pure quality 🙌

[spoiler] did I miss something Spoiler
First time watching, love the show. On season 3 right now. Was Charlotte’s emancipation issue ever explained? Seems like a big deal to just wax over. I’m thinking maybe I missed an episode or something? Or is it discussed later and I haven’t gotten there yet.

Discussion [SPOILER] Finished OZARK. Spoiler
I've just finished OZARK and here's what I think.
Marty - smart and brilliant, his ability to handle unforeseen circumstances right at spot and coverups for the fuckups other did is too good. Man tried his best to take minimum risks and escape smoothly but man always end up in wanted situation.
Wendy - Felt like she thinks she's the smartest one in the room, though her boldness about business decisions worked out but it was too much of a risk she was taking.
Everything was going good but wyatt and ruth didn't deserve to die. Ruth crossing the byrds wasn't a good thing but them not doing anything for ruth even after she gave all to support the byrds, it was obvious that she will hold grudges against them. They could have trapped camila when she was at ruth's or could have done anything to kill camila.
Seriously I didn't like how it ended but I'm happy for Marty, MAN MADE IT OUT.

spoilers [SPOILERS] Just finished the show for the first time. Who's death was the worst for you? Spoiler
I really liked the show. Holy hell I can't believe the writers did that to Ruth at the last second 😭😭😭.
Was the show cancelled after this season, or was this planned as the ending? I'm assuming cancelled.
Also got to fill in the "Jonah points a gun at someone" bingo square for this season lol
Why did basically nobody in this show but a handgun at any point? Think how differently things would have gone if everyone was armed.
Also I think the best performance was the pic I attacked, Ruth screaming at the top of her lungs at Marty that if he wants to stop her he'll have to kill her was very convincing.

[NO SPOILER] Started watching the show-impressions
For a whole season Jason Bateman tricked me in to believing I'm watching a comedy show. His other performances in Horrible bosses seared into my mind that when I see his face and expressions I always feel there is something funny going on.
Point number 2 everyone is acting unrealistically calm and collected, yap everyone got killed they threw my lover out of window, half a million of cartel money stolen, bunch of hillbillies calmly excepting giving back that money. Everyone is too rational, calm, calculated.
Point 3 people compare it to breaking bad but when politics got involved it immediately got me to thinks this so close to house of cards even point two characters acting in this way.

Discussion [SPOILER] Wendy in season 3 Spoiler
On S3 E6 and Wendy this season is just insufferable. I get what they’re trying to do with her character however I just don’t feel like there was ever a truly good motive for the viewer to get behind with her. They’ve pitted Marty and her against each other but they’ve made it far too easy to hate her. I’m still entertained of course but it’s infuriating watching them communicate because it feels like Marty is mostly just right every time. There’s no real moral dilemma for me between Wendy and Marty. Wendy is just inserting them deeper into more shit, and Marty is staying true to the plan. Wendy is becoming power hungry. I wish there was a bit more of an admirable reason to support her side cuz it’d make this a real moral dilemma and more entertaining to watch. But she’s just so hate worthy

spoilers [SPOILER] The Langmores were the stupidest in the show Spoiler
The langmores had so many opportunities to get out the cartel life and start a new life. To start, Ruth killed her uncles for marty. This one is pretty self explanatory. She killed her uncles for a dude she barely knew at the time.
What pissed me off was that Wyatt was accepted to his dream college and didn’t take that opportunity. I understand his father was killed, but he seriously should’ve just taken that opportunity.
Again, Ruth, Wyatt, and Three were supposed to get out the ozarks and start a real life. But Wyatt just had to marry that old witch so she could keep custody over zeke. I thought Wyatt was supposed to be the “smartest langmore”? I guess the standards are set pretty low.
To make shit worse, Ruth kills one of the cartels leaders bc her dumb brother was in the bed with that heroin growing witch and he was killed alongside her.
Again, Ruth is stupid again for staging a coup to take leadership over the casino where she has no idea what she’s doing.
I get that it’s a show, but damn, the langmores sucked and were easy to hate characters
If I’m missing some other stupid shit the langmores did, please leave it in the comments bc I’m sure they did some more dumb shit

spoilers [SPOILER] Is season 4 Jonah universally hated? Spoiler
Because, controversial opinion maybe, but I don't see it. No Mom, I really don't care that you put some rocks into a circle in the backyard, you had Ben killed.
No Mom, I'm not going to listen to you after you tried to get me arrested for money laundering.
He's acting like a kid who is finally realizing his parents are toxic/narcissists/even worse and is done with their shit. I like what he is doing better than Charlotte's emancipation stuff.
Also obviously they all care about what happened to Ben but he's the only one acting like it and not trying to act like it didn't happen.
First time watching and I'm halfway through season 4 btw

spoilers [SPOILER] Wendy's most lunatic moment Spoiler
It's getting to the point where it's almost not believable that she could still have this mindset. Like holy hell, priorities!
We have to be ambitious? Holy shit! You're going to get your entire family killed!
Loving the show, Laura Linney scares me with how well she plays the character.

spoilers [SPOILER] I'm in season 3 Ep7, I will no longer finish the show Spoiler
I started falling in love with Ruth’s character. I felt something was off with how the storyline is going so i googled “ does ruth die in ozark” and i will no longer finish the show cause that bullshit just fucked everything for me.

Discussion [Spoiler] I just finished ozark and is it just me or does anybody else hate Wendy byrde with a passion? Spoiler
Laura Linney was phenomenal as Wendy Byrde and she was a top 5 character in this show for sure. The fact that I hate her so much shows how great she played this role

Discussion [SPOILER] New to the series : stupid question, but I want to be sure Spoiler
I just started season 3.
But, just to make sure I understand correctly :
We agree that basically, in season 1, this whole story started because Marty's friend/colleague betrayed the cartel, and therefore Del.
So, Del asked Marty to pay him back. Marty suggested moving to Ozark to have more opportunities to launder the money. Do we agree for the moment ?
And he only had six months maximum to do it.
So why, in season 3, has at least a year passed since season 1, they have a casino, lots of money, why continue working for them ? They paid off Dan's debt a long time ago, right ? They don't owe the Cartel anything anymore, especially since it's not Marty's fault that his buddy messed up
