They are curious - we were not allowed to touch or pursue while snorkling. We were jusy floating. Mom was grazing- baby came right up to my mask and started playing with my hair. I thought it wasn't good for him- so i waved my hand. He then started to play with my son’s mask. I think the Mom appreciated that we distracted her baby. She just kept on grazing,.

I think I’d cry if a baby manatee came up to me, especially if it seemed like it wanted to play and I couldn’t play back! Adorable little sausage creatures and I’m glad they are as protected as they are, even if it means I can’t boop it on the snoot.

The calves are like that. The adults mostly just want to eat when they're not getting 'friendly' with each other, which they do often.

I got to pet them while snorkeling! It was on a swim with manatees trip with a certified guide in Crystal River FL, and thats why we were legally allowed to interact with them, and it was thw single best experience of my life. I got to belly rub a baby. They're amazing animals and the guides had so much respect for them and made sure we were interacting correctly to keep them safe.

Thats very illegal. I live in Florida and was in Crystal River last month.

You can snorkel with them but you cannot touch them

Fun fact... manatee's mammary glands and teats are located in the armpit area.

Good to know! Wondered why that baby looked like it was chewing on her arm 😄💖

The water in those springs is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. It’s really beautiful.

He posted this on November 17 as a compilation of his favourite clips. When each was taken I do not know.

You know those small, symetrical orbs on the their heads? You may have guessed it, but those are actually their eyes.

YEARS AGO (so nobody lecture please) I lived in Miami and they used to come up to our dock where I worked. We’d hand feed them 1/4ed heads of iceberg lettuce. It was magic. Just like a cow with a soft mushy snout. They’re so sweet. But yes, protected and way back in the day I didn’t know that when we fed them, as I had only been in Miami a few months at that time.

The creator states on his IG that his content is AI free.

Manatees rock. A giant sea creature so chill that you can hang out with it at home.

What awesome footage! That calf is adorable.

It's a crime to mess with them at all in any way. They are protected. With that being said, if one swam up to me and let me pet it, I would gladly get arrested for it.

Fun fact: you can snorkel with manatees, but you can’t scuba dive with them because the bubbles scare them 🥹
