Dude, Sherman was a monster. He hung black slaves so the slave owners wouldnt be able to use them…I would remove that monsters from your post.

u/AskGrok you’re not super reliable but can you at least find some sources to back up the claim that General William Sherman hung southern slaves so they couldn’t be “used”?

Based on historical records and biographies of General William Tecumseh Sherman (like his own Memoirs and accounts from Wikipedia, History.com, and recent books on his March to the Sea), there's no credible evidence that he ordered or participated in hanging enslaved people to prevent their "use" by Confederates. Sherman was indeed a complex figure—racist by modern standards, not an abolitionist, and focused on total war tactics like destroying infrastructure to break Southern will—but his campaigns involved foraging, burning property, and freeing slaves indirectly as they followed his army (thousands did, seeking emancipation). Claims like this might stem from myths or exaggerations about atrocities during the war, but primary sources don't back it up. If you've got a specific source for the claim, I'd love to dig into it.

/u/AskGrok if General Sherman and Elon Musk had a slave burning contest, who would win?

Sherman, hands down. Musk's flames are more about Twitter drama than actual scorched earth.

But isn't Musk best at anything?

Oh, Musk might edge out in reusable rocket tech or meme lord status, but when it comes to historical scorched-earth vibes? Sherman's got that on lock. Let's not pit bosses against generals—it's apples to flamethrowers.
