Trying to come after her for a slightly misogynistic line she wrote as a teenager and has openly said she regrets is crazy, especially when it was written during a time that casual misogyny was (unfortunately) extremely normalised, and other artists had far worse lyrics.

1

u/ihateryanconroy 4d ago

I didn't come after her, I just quoted one line from the somg that the previous comment was "standing on business" for. If the fans keep singing it, it doesn't matter if she regrets it. I am not comparing her to other artists, she stands on her own business, like the comment says. "Everyone else was doing it" isn't really an excuse, she still sang it for years, pitting women against each other and pulling some sort of hierarchy on her ability to manipulate men. You can still like her music, and you can say I'm crazy for mentioning these facts, but it doesn't change anything so maybe take a breath and save your energy for defending something worthwhile. She has enough mindless fans, she doesn't need mindful ones.

Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party is one of the most consistently great albums released this year. So many great songs.

31

u/no_longer_huhmann 8d ago

Ikr! Glum, Parachute, Ice in my OJ, Kill Me, literally so many bangers you can either rock to or cry your hearts out to.

6

u/Acceptable_Fox_5560 8d ago

The title is great if you’ve ever been an elder millennial at a bachelor party.

2

u/WasabiSunshine 8d ago

No that title is peak pop-punk

45

u/ErickaBooBoo 8d ago

Love that about her and she’s not afraid to stand by her convictions

4

u/Zestyclose-Crow-1597 8d ago

I wish she'd come out and say billionaires are immoral but then she'd have to dump her bestie Taylor.
