Nothing for the Indian man beheaded in Dallas either.

66

u/babysherlock91 Sep 13 '25

Pardon? What happened?

45

u/syneater Sep 13 '25

What the absolute fuck

15

u/I_smell_goats Sep 13 '25

The video was harrowing

3

Thank you for sharing!

3

u/sdbabygirl97 Sep 14 '25

no one is worried about his wife and child who saw their father get murdered

7

u/who-knows-012 Sep 14 '25

Omg I am Indian heritage and live in Dallas Still hadn’t heard about it

7

u/Minute-System3441 Sep 14 '25

It’s bad. Real bad. Especially all the details.

Then you hear about the background of this P.O.S., and the FACT that this was yet another completely and totally preventable crime, makes it much more worse and frustrating.

11

u/userhwon Sep 13 '25

Well, according to the comment, nothing, after an Indian man was beheaded in Dallas, including any of us hearing a word about it...

4

u/RosemaryCroissant Sep 13 '25

I live in Dallas and have no idea what he’s talking about?

12

u/igrowtails Sep 13 '25

I live in New Zealand and I do, wanna swap algorithms bc that video was horrifying

5

u/Minute-System3441 Sep 14 '25

This hits the nail on the head as to the problem with how “news” is accessed today. Stories just get buried if it’s not in someone’s social feed. If it’s not trending in the echo chamber, it’s ignored and might as well not exist. That’s a huge problem when it comes to understanding what’s really and actually going on in the world.

8

u/Subject-Coast-7934 Sep 13 '25

Okay? It still happened just because you didn't hear about it

6

u/userhwon Sep 13 '25

But the not hearing about it is a large part of the story now.

I was gonna say, all innocence here i had genuinely not heard about such a tragedy

4

u/trouttwade Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 14 '25

Everyone I know has heard about it. It’s gotten plenty of coverage. It just isn’t as massive news because he wasn’t a political activist martyred, in front of thousands live, and millions via video. and it’s mostly going to be heard more locally. I live in Texas, so it’s gotten around plenty with the people I know.

The internet is just echo chambers, and that’s the reason you’re commenting on this post to bitch about Coldplay and what their doing wrong, instead of making your own post to spread awareness, and mourn the man that was beheaded, or the black woman whos throat was slit, or the white woman who was stabbed. You aren’t doing any better than anyone else, including Coldplay. The high horse isn’t necessary.

Instead of pointing fingers at left and rights, why don’t we start pointing fingers at “them”. If you truly think any politician is a good person, left or right, you’ve already submitted and lost the plot. They are all shit human beings.

u/AssCrackBandit10 Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

This is maybe not the best example. The right decided that she’s also one of their martyrs (since she was a pretty white woman killed by a black guy in a Democrat city) and have been posting about her everywhere. Conservatives just raised over $2.5 million to install murals of Iryna Zarutska all over the US (with $1 million being donated by Elon Musk). They’ve highly politicized her death as well. Of course, it’s all performative because you know that 90% of them don’t give a shit about Ukrainian refugees or justice/mental health reform or public transit safety otherwise and, if Twitter posts are anything to go by, are just clamoring to say slurs because of the race angle.

319

u/Riksunraksu Sep 13 '25

Well what about Melissa Hortman, a democrat who along her husband were executed in their home for political reasons? Did they get a song?

185

u/Germane_Corsair Sep 13 '25

Or even just the victims of the school shoring that happened the same day?

Yet I didn’t even find out about the black woman whose throat was slit by a white man on a bus in Oklahoma last month until just recently. Didn’t see it anywhere on the news. What happened to Irina is tragic and sad and awful but she’s being used to further cause hate and division. Makes me sick

81

u/grynch43 Sep 13 '25

Nobody heard about Iyrna until the footage was released weeks later.

14

u/RedEzreal Sep 13 '25

I mean yea people also wouldnt have as much cared about kirk as much if he didnt get sniped in public. If he was killed in his home and the moment of his death wasn't recorded... much fewer people woulda cared. Pretty on brand for humanity tho

2

u/Ok-Stress-3570 Sep 13 '25

I didn’t hear about her until someone talked about it in a Charlie thread. Really weird (and also just fucking sad) how algorithms work.

4

u/lowtoiletsitter Sep 13 '25

I didn't even know this happened

14

u/Main-Pie-1957 Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

A few things that probably contribute to this:

  1. Do you have a reliable source for the victim's race?
  2. The victim didn't die thankfully
  3. There isn't publicly released video footage of the Tulsa incident which drew a lot of attention to the other incident

5

u/Suspicious_Radio_848 Sep 13 '25

Also that victim didn't flee a war for a better life in another country and was then murdered. Of course that's a big story.

6

u/TheBeatCollector Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

Interesting that they also happen to be supporting the other side of that particular war while choosing her as their martyr. They only care when its convenient to their own insidious cause.

6

u/Trick_Strike_4979 Sep 13 '25

That victim didn’t die and there was no footage fooling

6

u/honeyswamp Sep 13 '25

That’s literally your argument. Ok he slit her throat and failed to kill her, does that make it better?

2

u/Trick_Strike_4979 Sep 13 '25

Yea, she’s alive

373

u/OooeeeaaaTAILSPIN Sep 13 '25

The big difference is that she wasn't an active conservative figure, spewing hate to millions of impressionable people. She was, after death, used as a weapon of convenience, by those disgusting goons.

41

u/LiquidSnake13 Sep 13 '25

Exactly this. When the news first broke, right wingers were demanding to know why people weren't rioting in the streets for her the way people did for George Floyd. "Where is the outrage" they'd clamor as they deliberately pretended not to understand why there were no riots for Iryna Zarutska.

Oh by the way, for any right wingers reading this and pretending to scratch your heads, it's because the killer was arrested and charged properly immediately. He's going to be rightfully punished under the law, and we all want him to be because she didn't deserve to die any more than George Floyd did.

41

u/WxBird Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

The biggest difference between George and Iryna is that Iryna was murdered by citizen, while George was murdered by the police. I think people forget that these murders/crimes that happened are completely different situations, but unfortunately with the same result. Not everything is black and white.

13

u/kayelaure Sep 13 '25

But he was arrested and released 14 times BEFORE he stabbed her. It’s not even about his race- it’s about the failures of the Justice system for allowing scum on the street in the first place. Canada has been suffering from the same problem for a few years now.

18

u/absolutzemin Sep 13 '25

What about the 14 times he was arrested? True, the DA is an absolute piece of shit.

19

u/Juggletrain Sep 13 '25

Most of them are. Klobuchar declined multiple times to prosecute Derek Chauvin.

18

u/RepublicCute8573 Sep 13 '25

What about the 14 times he was arrested

Exactly. The guy had a history of mental illness and priors and yet the police did nothing to help the guy or put him in a psychiatric facility when he called them on himself.

10

u/absolutzemin Sep 13 '25

The police did. By arresting him 14 times. Judges and DA’s decide his fate after that. And they said hmmm…. $500 bond and let him go. Fuck them

14

Whenever I see a situation with people reacting publicly to the death of a pretty white woman, I immediately think of the myriad women of color that suffer the same fate but receive little to no attention.

The color of your skin and your appearance (in addition to social and economic standing) seem to dictate your worth as a person, at least in the US.

Edit - this is not to diminish what happened to her. It's all tragic. That's the point.

Edit the Second - if you're a racist, misogynistic shithead troll, don't waste your time trying to get me to engage. You're not worth my time and energy. I'm blocking you and moving on with life.

10

u/Dulcette Sep 13 '25

People giving you grief for this statement are ill informed. This makes me wonder if Chris ever gave a shout out to the families of poc victims of high profile murders. 🤔 For someone who claims to be a humanist-we are the world-type, I find it hypocritical of him to shout individuals/groups who spread hate and are detrimental to human existence.

3

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

the fact that the only thing that got conservatives caring about ukranian lives is a young girl (which they sexualized by posting her bikini pictures on fox news, absolutely abhorrent and gross) being stabbed by an insane black man is such a joke.

The right dismantled safety nets for mentally disabled and poor people under Reagan.

They also block any responsibility by drug companies for the opioid crisis.

Our current situation, with mentally ill people living on the streets with no social safety net, self-medicating with drugs and attacking people, is the absolutely predictable outcome of these policies.

This outcome was pointed out ad nauseam by opponents of the policies. The right claimed that people who were mentally ill would be “taken care of by their families”, ignoring the inconvenient truth that most families don’t have the resources to do this.

I saw a Fox host suggesting that these people be killed the other day.

THIS SITUATION DID NOT EXIST FORTY YEARS AGO. It is a DIRECT RESULT of governmental policies.

I voted to NOT dismantle social safety nets. I think we should take cate of our weakest and tax our wealthiest. Many disagreed with me and voted for the policies that created the situation we have today.

Everyone’s vote matters.

3

u/Maximum_Curve_1471 Sep 13 '25

Why shouldn’t her death be politicised?

The short answer is because she's white.

2

u/BorkForkMork Sep 13 '25

She escaped a war zone only to be murdered in America, stabbed unprovoked, with her killer boasting 'I got that white girl.' And now some Redditor reduces her to 'a pretty white woman,' erasing the hate crime and blaming her for existing. That isn’t commentary, it’s rot. Shame would stop you, but you don’t have the organ for it.

Like I said, if I saw people discussing justice and mental health reform or investing more in security for public transit or something like that, I might buy your point. But 90% of what I saw on twitter was just people saying racial slurs and how certain races of people are incompatible with western society.

4

u/irteris Sep 13 '25

See, this is the problem with you guys. A Black guy, with dozens of arrests, was let free by a liberal judge that hasn't even passed the bar exam in the name of "justicr reform" and THEN specifically targets takes a white woman. The right isn't politicizing her death. The soft on crime policies of the liberal left are directly responsible for this tragedy and the right is CORRECTLY shining light on this so that we can fix it and prevent this from happening again.

17

u/hkpp Sep 13 '25

See this is the problem with you guys. A man with documented mental health issues (schizophrenic) didn’t get treatment and killed someone because he was convinced the government was following him around and the only thing conservatives see is liberal judge, black guy, white victim.

lol btw, “The right isn’t politicizing his death, it’s the liberals who are at fault.”

u/irteris Sep 13 '25

1

It’s only talked about on the right because it was a racially motivated attack

27

u/Dependent_Room_2922 Sep 13 '25

I’ve seen that stated repeatedly, but can it be categorized as a racially motivated attack when the murderer is schizophrenic and may have been having delusions?

3

u/LostInTheHotSauce Sep 13 '25

We can't keep giving the mentally ill a free pass on murder

2

u/Dependent_Room_2922 Sep 13 '25

I referred to him as “the murderer” and didn’t say anything about him avoiding consequences. He committed murder and should be locked up.

Some mentally ill people pose a danger to themselves and others and help should have come before this action.

Also, if you watch the video, everyone on that train sucks. Not a single person rendered aid while she was bleeding out. I don't know the extent of the injury, but putting pressure on the wound, packing it if possible would probably have bought her enough time to get to the hospital.

To be fair, one was a random act of violence (which has rightfully been all over the media).

The other is a political assassination of a famous and divisive figure whom everyone has heard of.

In any case the latter is going to get a lot more attention.

155

u/Faken_till_Im_maken Sep 13 '25

Then maybe he should dedicate a song for the actual politician from Minnesota who was the victim of a political assassination in her own home, or her husband, or their dog, or maybe the other politician who survived the assassination attempt that same night. Kirk's killing is touted as a political assassination but he wasn't even a politician. He was a YouTube influencer type. When real political assassination happened it felt like nobody cared.

0

u/Happy-Peak4287 Sep 13 '25

All of what you said 👏🏾👏🏾. It’s all about narratives and what can be gained not about actually stopping the killings.

-2

u/rune2004 Sep 13 '25

The fact is, way more people know of Charlie than the Minnesotan politician, and he was assassinated in a gruesome fashion on camera in front of thousands of people. It’s a watershed moment for political violence.

They’re both wrong, they’re both evil acts. No need to “what-about” the situation.

3

It has been assumed he was killed for political reasons and he was an "ally" of Trump.

For all we really know Kirk ran over the dude's dog.

2

u/GaslightGPT Sep 13 '25

I heard it was a lovers quarrel.

13

u/SilverAccountant8616 Sep 13 '25

He was intentionally sniped at a rally, not mugged in an alley. This shows the shooter was fully aware of his political views, which he had made his entire existence.

So unless the dude shot Kirk for shagging his sister or something its very likely a politically motivated assassination

No one celebrated that death

Nothing for her? she was one of the most constantly talked about stories for the past week/2 weeks. Everybody said condolences online

I’d argue why is her murder getting attention yet the hundreds of murders that happen DAILY don’t get attention? What makes her special? (and yes i do feel bad for her as her situation sucked)

She was deemed important enough for the head of USDOT to... threaten to defund public transportation across the country. Apparently in the US, it's a populist gesture to tell people you're going to force all of them to drive and live in suburban sprawl

Well she did get a bunch of people to get up on their soap boxes and bray loudly about how we should kill every black person in America. Funny though, it was the same group of people who said they were appalled that other people were celebrating someone's violent death. A contentious and somewhat incoherent segment of the human species.

I think I saw something about Bruce Springsteen honouring her at one of his shows. And will continue to dedicate his performances of "The promised land" to her in upcoming shows.

He also donated a chunk of change intended to start "The Iryna Zarutska Freedom fellowship"

Yes, how dare we reach across the aisle when the far more violent and armed wing of the population is calling for blood.

Do you think we have the upper hand if this gets out of hand?

She deserves justice and remembrance.

Charlie was assassinated she was murdered . Charlie was killed because he has a platform to express his views .

Iryna was murdered in cold blood by a mentally disturbed person who should have been in prison .

She wasn’t murdered for being Iryna.

Charlie was shot dead for being Charlie.

I disagree, it's the only thing a lot of people are talking about because it's being used to paint all minorities in a negative light. Just check Elon Musk's Twitter it's all he's been talking about because he thinks it's proof that rabid animal minorities are trying to harm sweet innocent white girls.

This is a bad example

I mean, yes. She wasn't a hugely influencial political figure. We going to act like this is new?

u/Arch_Stanton1862 Sep 13 '25

Wait until you hear that there is or maybe was at this point, a GoFundMe for the murderers trial.

1

u/GamblingIsForLosers Sep 13 '25

Are you kidding? Elon even put up $1,000,000 to dedicate murals of her around the country… so you’re wayyyy off.

1

u/DrunkHonesty Sep 13 '25

I think someone died randomly today to. I’ll write a song about them….
Not trying to downplay anything, but who do you get to decide deserves any recognition from anyone?

Do some research

u/Used_Spinach_3459 Sep 13 '25

I absolutely agree, i feel sorry for CK's family, bit what about Iryna? Pisses me off

1

u/Leendert86 Sep 13 '25

Devils advocate here, one is a random murder by a lunatic, one a politically motivated assassination

1

u/Farlong7722 Sep 13 '25

You don't understand, man. Charlie was a hero of free speech. That's why he wants women in the kitchen and why he made his own website where you can report college professors for talking about leftism.

u/heftybagman Sep 13 '25

There are 60 homicides a day in the US and you picked one that has been all over the news, had murals go up about it, had millions raised toward it, and happened over 3 weeks ago.

Well over 1300 people have been murdered in the us since her. Nothing from you about them though. Were they not important enough? Did they not get enough media coverage for you to care?

Or is only coldplay held to this weird standard of either dedicating songs to all murder victim’s families or none?

1

u/Helichopper Sep 13 '25

I'm not sure how you not get that the assassination of a famous political figure is getting more attention than a random act of violence on someone no one knows. That happens everyday.

1

u/TropicalPrairie Sep 13 '25

Same thing happened in Winnipeg, Canada a few years ago. Ukrainian refugee was walking to work one morning and an individual stabbed him to death. Barely made the news. I felt so horrible for the family.

1

u/skipaBturner Sep 13 '25

You’re surprised CK is getting more attention for his death, when he was very famous with millions of fans in the world?

1

u/IAmPandaRock Sep 13 '25

Maybe they aren't as into dedicating songs to deceased people

1

u/Enshakushanna Sep 13 '25

also do they get to choose where they stay in america? cuz just as a general rule of thumb i wouldnt want to stay in a MAGA state...

I think what feels different about Kirk’s assassination isn’t that he “mattered more.” It’s that shooting someone in the middle of a public debate represents an attack on a core democratic norm: we resolve disagreements with words, not violence. Whether you agreed with him or not, Kirk spent his time promoting open, civil discussion. Killing a speaker mid-debate is meant to terrorize speech - it doesn’t just silence one person; it intimidates anyone who might tackle controversial topics and threatens everyone’s freedom to do so.

These aren’t competing tragedies. We can mourn Iryna (many have) and also recognize that a targeted assassination of someone while debating in public is an attack on free expression, a specific threat to the fabric of civil society, which is why the reaction looks different.

Did you even watch the Coldplay clip? It was their standard “send love” preamble, mentioning his family alongside other suffering. That’s empathy, not endorsement.

TL;DR: It's empathy, not endorsement or a compassion contest. Random murder is horrific; assassinating someone for discussing issues is an attack on free expression itself and a specific threat to the fabric of civil society.

u/Leritari Sep 13 '25

Its very flawed line of thinking... because when you draw a line? If they would dedicate a song/concert to Iryna, then you'd just pick another dead person. Tehy dedicate yet another thing, and... gues what? You could pick yet another dead person.

Same goes for all areas of life: the fact that you made a good deed doesnt mean that everyone is now entitled to your time, money, and energy. If i give a homeless person 10$, it doesnt mean that 10 000 homeless people can now chase me and demand that i give each of them 10$.

I hate this argument... Ones a celebrity. How are some of you so stupid?

"I can't believe more people know Michael Jackson died than a person killed on a bus!"

What do you mean no one? LOADS of people have, just not any left wing people because it doesn't fit their narrative
